It sure would be nice to have the same timelapse ability for cutting that we have with printing.
While there’s only one “layer”, for cutting and etching, it would be great to have timelapse for x seconds per frame, or frame per operation type on a given attached object.
There are laser cutters with cameras that can be used to position material, and Glowforge will take a picture of something you put on the bed, and then generate G-Code to cut a duplicate (it doesn’t work that well). But I don’t know of any laser cutters with a live video feed while they’re cutting. I suspect the light that scatters from around where the beam is cutting is too bright. A camera won’t have the dynamic range. Adjust exposure so the laser isn’t washing out the image, and everything except the laser becomes too dark to see.
The H2D has live view on the laser via the display on the printer and I may be wrong, also in the BambuSuite, but no recording function
Huh. If there’s a feed, there’s no reason why it can’t be recorded. How does the live view look when the laser is running, do you know? I’d expect it to just be a bright blob, but maybe not…
You get the same camera image as with 3D printing, but you see the bright blue laser.
What’s more interesting is that with laser printing, you see the camera image on the printer display, but not with 3D printing; that would be cool.
Conversely, a recording function would also be possible.
I think these are purely software features that Bambu can add later.
the live view is fine. yeah there’s the bright spot when the laser is active, but nothing too crazy.
