Laser for engraving steel parts - Review

Have a use for the laser in my workshop, so have ordered the 40W combo.

First video with results engraving stainless, looks impressive.
And he only used the 10W laser.

I have heard twice now, including this video review, that it is a dual wavelength Laser on this system with infrared ? which is a very good combo to have, i cant find any link to this spec/info, anyone?

Looking at the video, do i even need a 40W for engraving stainless?

It says the infrared is only for height measurements. This may be a mistake on the specs sheet but we will see when printers land in our hands late April

I have never used a laser before and don’t know much about it. I always read that laser cutting will create a lot of smoke and debris etc and it will make a mess inside the printer. Mostly that is mentioned in combination with cutting wood.

How is it with engraving steel? Is this also such a mess or is it in any way different to other materials?

Obviously it must make some kind of dirt since it „removes“ material that has to go somewhere

455 nm Blue Lasers are not great metal engravers. You typically must use a marking spray to augment the process.
