Layer Gaps in Vase Mode 3mf

  • I keep trying to make a vase from Make My Vase generator but every model I seem to download has weird holes or gaps in the layer. does any one have any idea how to fix this I don’t really know to much about slicer settings so I would really appreciate some advice.
  • Printer model A1 with AMS lite
  • Slicer settings used 0.20 and every other thickness and nozzle preset
  • Type of filament used N/A Slicer issue
  • Photos that clearly show the problem

Can’t really say from the pics but I take it you the preview is fine but the print isn’t?
Have you tried to increase the outer wall thickness?
I often print around 0.6mm when using vase mode.
The model has a lot of fine details so you probably have to reduce the print speed a bit if all else fails.
Another thing I do is that I create filament calibrations for normal printing and for vase mode prints.
Different flow rates required to get matching results…

no it shows up in the preview it literally skips layers for some reason and it seems to be every model I have downloaded from the make my vase program on makerlab it seems to be a slicer issue

Probably a good idea then to take the screenshot and all into a support ticket…
Might be general problem they need to fix…

maybe but it also seems to happen in Orca slicer as well if no one has any advice after a while I will submit a ticket

Just means the problem is with the model, not the slicer.
Unless of course some of your print settings are way off.
Tried a few quick creations and here they all show fine in the slicer.
But you said it is with all models you tried…

That’s your file from above and as you can see I create holes between layers quite easy.

This is the same area but this time hole free.
What the difference ?
The first used Arachne for the walls, the second the classic wall generator.
Did not check the entire model in all detail but if you get similar defects it might be the wrong wall generator selects.
Or an issue with thin wall detection.
Switch from standard 0.2mm profile to just enabling vase mode seems to work just fine with your draft file.

no dice here do you have a slicer profile I can try

Nope…
As said, I used the standard 0.2mm profile and only ticked the vase mode box.
Accepted the auto changes for the settings and that’s it.
For the first pic I enabled Arachne for the walls, second one is classic wall generator.
If that does not give you the same result in your Studio something must be very odd, it is literally just two clicks away here in my Studio and works.
Nothing wrong with the vase maker that I can see.

If you changed the standard profiles and saved them try a clean install of Studio if you don’t have a bunch of custom filament profiles and such.
As said, I used plain defaults here.

That your geometry saved with my settings.
Pay attention to the filaments so you won’t end with my selection.
As you will see, nothing special in there.

Weird I just tried making another less aggressive model it generates wall just fine I think maybe the model is to complex to resolve

The model works just fine here, if so many fail for you it has to be your settings

I just used the model you gave back to me with your settings it still failed I just checked it it’s cropping up the same issues anyway thanks I think I understand what happened I mark this as resolved
