Layer Time Artifacts - Disabling Gap Infill

I have been tuning settings to print this model, and I am finding that the only two artifacts I have yet to eliminate are two rings shown in the image below. They’re quite apparent in the slicer, and unfortunately just as apparent after the print.

It’s obvious that layer time changes drastically, and what appears to be happening at each ring is a transition from inner wall to gap infill (or vice versa)

After those transitional layers complete, the layer time returns to be consistent with the rest of the body. It’s strange because I have sparse infill density set to 0, and apply gap infill set to nowhere, so in theory disabling the gap infill would prevent the change in layer time; however, I can’t seem to find a way to turn the gap infill off.

I will say that I’m using Orca Slicer 2.2, but I can see the layer time changes in bambu studio as well. Any help would be much appreciated.

My guess is that you are using “Classic” under “wall generator” in the “quality” tab in your slicer settings? If you switch to “Arachne” you shouldn’t have gap fill between perimeters. Arachne just varies the line width do do away with gap fill. Except for a few edge cases, Arachne prints faster and offers more detail than Classic.
