Learn, Improve, and Master Your Printer with Bambu Lab Academy!

Thanks @MakerWorld for coming up with this great idea on getting users educated especially the new ones in the hobby! I hope this will reduce the 1-star ratings due to “model adhesion issues”

I guess I’m no longer on a beginner level lol

I’d like to report though that there’s one question in the beginner level quiz asking about the purpose of the build plate and the choices didn’t include something like it’s the surface onto which parts are printed layer by layer but rather some choices that really didn’t describe any function of the build plate. @SupportAssistant (Sorry I missed to capture a screenshot of it)

Great idea. Good execution as far as I can tell (I don’t have a mini, but it all makes sense).

But some of the videos show the the A1, not the mini. And, of course, you need versions for the A1, then P1 and X1 – much of the content can be reused, but they need new graphics and videos. And I would release them from small to large, because it’s the newcomers that need the help most - and they are most likely to go for the smaller printers to start with. And those of us who have been printing for almost 20 years, tend to go big (P1,X1).

Go ahead and challenge the experts.

Similar tutorials for all of Bambu Studio would be useful, after the printer tutorials are completed. And, of course, you can watch the forums for repeat questions to see where the tutorials might need reinforcement and additions.

The academy looked good, but I had issues with the format, I am currently surfing on my MacBook with Safari and the images in the tutorial where HUGE and went off the screen making it hard to follow along, some formatting error in Safari’s interpretation of the HTML code. I am going to look at again on my Windows Machine tomorrow. Thank you for putting it together.

We are sorry to hear this.

Please share some screenshots so we can find out where this occurs. In our testing, Safari has been working as expected.

Thank you!

We have a dedicated video playlist that has a lot of useful Bambu Studio info, available on YouTube.

But we will surely work on your idea too

Firstly, I would like to say this concept is great, and I appreciate the time and effort that went into making this information more available and accessible to beginners. Definitely on the right track. In line with your request for feedback, here is some constructive criticism and opinionated suggestions for improvement

Beginner:
CH5 - Completing the Printer Installation and Loading Filament: there are references to lubricating grease, grease, greasing, whereas the video correctly references lubricant oil  Plus, you correctly you talk about oil in “Intermediate → CH9 - Maintenance”

CH7 - Introduction to A1 mini’s Main Hardware Components: I wonder if the Printer axis section from this chapter should be moved a bit earlier i.e. CH6 (Introduction to A1 mini’s on-screen settings) was walking through the on screen controls, and pointing out how to move the axis… and CH4 (Completing the Printer Installation and Loading Filament) also walks you through lubricating them, but they don’t get specifically mentioned/explained until CH7. Actually… could simply move CH7 to after CH2 (Printer Unboxing) and change the first sentence… as you’ve just unboxed it, it is an appropriate time to go through what all the bits of it are. Although I appreciate it means it takes longer to get to the first print section…

CH11 - Starting a print from Bambu Studio: Bambu Slicer?

Intermediate
CH1 - Common 3D Printing Terms: I think the pictures for Bridging and Overhangs would be better to not be done from underneath, through the build plate… it’s not immediately intuitive or obvious what is going on.

CH3 - Build Plates - When and What to use: I appreciate it is good to focus on the positives, but perhaps mention (if only at the end in the “choosing the right plate for your needs” section) when certain plates should not be used / any drawbacks (like on the following nozzle chapter) i.e. why shouldn’t I just get the Bambu Cool Plate SuperTack plate and use it for everything since it has strong grip, easy to pull off, more energy efficient, etc, etc… as it leaves open the question of why isn’t it included as standard if it is so great  Also, missed opportunity to mention the 3D effects plates, which is particularly relevant since it was an (incorrect) quiz answer but I don’t remember seeing them mentioned in the course anywhere.

CH6 - How to print larger models by cutting them in smaller pieces?: For the screenshot showing the results of having just cut the model “which can be seen in the Objects process tab.” … it might be good to also circle/arrow the “Objects” button, since normally the “Global” button would be selected.

CH7 - Model Orientation, Support, Infill, and other general slicing settings: Under “Sparse Infill”, perhaps a missed opportunity to mention the process presets, as you can easily do the infill and wall increase by changing from the standard to strength presets…

CH8 - How to print from SD card: thank you, I learnt something today!! I did not realise you could eject the SD while the printer was powered on… though it had to be powered down… nice to know there is an “eject” option in the menu!

CH9 - Maintenance: For the “Hotend Heating Assembly”, it might be better to give something more definite than “After prolonged use” (like, every 300 hours of printing, every 3000?)

Advanced
CH1 - Common print problems and solutions: Under " Nozzle is clogged", the wiki guide has the video that will demonstrate what a cold pull is, perhaps explain what a cold pull actually is, or at least mention the demonstration video from the wiki

CH2 - Potential mechanical problems and solutions: “It is also recommended to clean the Extruder” … and no wiki link to show me how to do it! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

CH4 - How to re-tension the printer’s belts: For those people who don’t get this is why the printer sounds like it is going to shake itself to pieces every time it starts a print job (or makes the whole house vibrate)… this would be a good opportunity to mention this is what the XY startup check is about

Example Screen Shots. 16 inch Mac Book Pro. No change in the zoom level I was using.

Not a big deal, but some formatting error in Safari I suspect.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly,
screens shots in reverse order.

Not to say a lot but it definitely includes the learning in the fun I might add and say!

Completed it fast enough.
