LED Magnetic Control Switch Light question

I see all three versions of the lights list the Magnetic Control Distance as being 3 cm, but the videos appear to show someone actually touching the board with a magnet to make the light to switch.

I was wondering if the switch will actually work 3 cm away from the light and if so, would it still work if there was a 3 cm block of filament between the light and the magnet?

EDIT: It would be really cool if there were a version of this control switch light that just had two modes, on and off, rather than having to hit the switch several times to make it turn off.

Activation distance is going to depend on the strength and orientation of the actuating magnet. So no hard answer. I doubt they supply the real premium strength magnets with the LEDs so maybe can actuate farther away. I’d bet filament is transparent to the magnetic field unless it has iron or other magnetically active material in it but don’t know that.
