Yeah, I thought the same thing. The blurred image looked grey, not black.
Definitely would’ve had some blue on it. Blurred looked more like a full printer shot rather than just the laser.
Is that a nozzle behind the laser?
The only thing I think is new from this is seeing the laser working when another nozzle is in place
I wonder if they can somehow be used in tandem…
to me this looks like a rendering and not a photo, so it can either be a laser, or just a visual representation of an upgraded lidar
Maybe it is only a laser which connect layers… for better z strength? We will know soon!
Did they figure out something novel with a laser and FDM printing, or is it just an additional component? If the laser is ensuring tolerances, providing surface smoothing, etc then it’s probably worth the purchase.
To me… that’s just a simple air assist. Its orientation is a little odd though, for an air assist.

Why does tomorrow have to be a day away??!?
I really hope this is an optional add on, and not :“we are forcing you to have it bundled in.” I have no interest in an engraving laser, and most of the 3d printing people I know feel the same.
It is optional, and an upgrade kit will be available in June
Diode lasers can be kinda heavy for a print head, specially a 40w, I can’t imagine a tandem situation unless its limited
