Load Button?

We have an upload button on the touchscreen, why not a load button?

for?
with AMS you have a load button and via backspool holder you dont need load filament…
or what you looking for?

I dont use an AMS… so for those that dont

but if you use no ams then you can put your filament into the extruder until the the “unload” button appear so the sensor know filament is in it and then begin to print. you dont need to purge or anything else…
try it.

The direct drive extruder grabs the filament easily

With that being said I very much understand why you would like a load option as I’ve run into most likely the same issue that you have

Whenever I’m loading filament outside of my AMS like TPU I need to push the extrude button multiple times in order to purge out the old filament which is an absolute pain in the a$$

So in closing I 100% agree with you and would love to have a load option outside of the AMS that has a predetermined amount fed into the extruder to load new filament while purging the old filament

My explanation is so that others reading this thread might better understand why a load option outside of the AMS is a fantastic idea :bulb:

TPU is a other problem. I think this is not working with load button as well…

I know what you mean, but then you begin with a print, is it no so, that the filament will be purged anyway. so you dont need to purge the old filament out, because the print routine do this for you?

When you load manually without the AMS (which has it’s own separate firmware) no it does not do a full purge and you will have remnants of the other filament come out on the extrusion caliberation lines cteating not only incorrect caliberation values but also mixed filament on the first layer

A proper purge heats the extruder to 250° , extrudes a set amount while dropping the nozzle temp, the wipe sequence then the nozzle clean

All this before even laying down the first extrusion lines

I’ve found that this is especially an issue when using Soft Fever because I have my own values set and when using the AMS disable the caliberation sequence

When printing without the AMS I need to remember to select my caliberation and deselect my pressure advance otherwise the extrusion is not correct

Not a big deal unless I smoke a joint and forget the process before starting a TPU print lol
