Load new filament into AMS while printing

I have 3 rolls of the same filament. 1 has very little left, the second has about a third of a roll, and the last one is brand new.

I want to print something that takes most of a roll so I wanted to use up my partial roll first before using the brand new one.

My plan was:

  1. I load the first roll in the AMS and the second roll in the external spool.
  2. Start the print.
  3. Wait until the first roll (in the AMS) is used up and the printer switches to the external roll.
  4. Load the full roll in the AMS.
  5. Let the printer switches back to the AMS when the external roll is done.

Two questions about that plan:

  1. Does the H2C support switching between the two nozzles when auto back up is enabled?
  2. Can I load new filament into the AMS while the printer is printing.

I don’t want to load all rolls before starting the print because I don’t want the printer to start using the new roll before the other two.

  1. When you load multiple spools and start the print, you can choose which spool is used first. If it has to reload more than once, I don’t know how to set the order.

  2. If you start pritning and run out, and there is no auto-reload set (or it ran out), it will pause and ask for a new spool. Insert it, and press continue.

How does it determine which spool is the backup spool when using non-Bambu filament? Does it use the color I choose for the spool and the material type?

It will auto-refill between spools of exactly the same type and colour. You can set that manualyl or use the RFID. Also you can stick old RFID tags on other spools. there’s osmething you can press to see the autorefill. It’s the toolbox icon then the aurorefill button,

The whole point was to not have to manually reload the filament.

However,…

The model that I wanted to print turned out to be too large for the right nozzle so I was forced to use the left, which is connected to the external extruder. Therefore, I had to do manual swaps.

Also, it seems that the auto-backup/refill is only for the AMS, so I can’t swap between AMS and external.
