I have seen gobs of files for BL spools on Maker World. How do these creators find the design info to create the spools? It seems unlikely that each one of them would take manual measurements of factory spools. Is there a place where I can get info for creating other BL parts (specifically the standard spool arm for the A1 Mini)?
You would be surprised, many do, they measure, prototype, iterate and perfect.
I have not seen any official files provided by Bambu Lab.
Nope, they just make the designs themselves. It’s actually surprisingly easy when you know how to. All you really need is a spool and some digital calipers + a decent understanding of fusion360 or another program. In regards to the spool arm, has somebody not made one yet?
I am experienced in in Fusion 360, but if design guidelines are available, I’d rather avoid manual measurement and it’s inherent inaccuracies. I found only one spool and arm on Maker, and it was dreadfully poor in accuracy, pretty much useless. I guess I’ll pull out my calipers and get to work.
I believe this is a printable spool model from Bambu Lab: Bambu Spool by Bambu Lab - MakerWorld
Not the spool arm as requested though.
It was asked for and you said you’ve never seen any files so I shared it…
The spool arm would be a great candidate for photogrammetry, if you’re interested in trying something new! You could get a really good scan of it with your phone camera.
This was the question.
This was supplemental to the question, but not the request, it was preamble.
Which is why I said…
Because, I have not seen any models for the standard spool arm.
I never thought of that! I just finished drawing it up from scratch and printing it.
