Looking for the best settings for printing with PETG

Hello.

I am looking to print an adapter for connecting a vacuum hose to the squeegee head, but am having trouble trying to find the best settings for printing with PETG on the A1. I am using Overture Black PETG. I currently have 0.4mm, 0.6mm and 0.8mm nozzle heads, if that helps. Not sure what other information would be useful.

If u use generic PETG settings, what print issues are u facing?

I just copied the Generic PETG profile and then changed the temp to match the spec of the filament. So far thats worked perfectly for me. If you are having quality issues try raising the temp or slowing down the print by reducing the max volumetric speed (you can temp try this by selecting silent from the menu and it will slow down the print)

Are you trying to print an existing adaptor or design your own? If design your own then there are many other considerations especially around clearence between your part and the other part.

You’ll likely get better results if you use a PETG filament that’s rated for high speed printing (300mm/sec minimum, but generally the higher the speed rating the better). The same for other filament types also, if you can find it. Otherwise, you may have to dial down your print speed and acceleration.

This is where I am getting it from, specifically: 38.1mm(1.5in)ID_to_36.5125mm(1+7_16in)-OD_transition2mm_straight.stl

I’ve never printed with PETG before, only PLA and TPU. I printed it at 100% infill, so it’s stronger, but would like to use PETG so it will last longer.

I wasn’t aware that there was specific filament for different speeds. Thought it was just a “one size fits all” sort of situation. I know that the brand makes a difference. I have cheap TPU that I am just trying to get rid of. Dried it for 12+ hours prior to use, and it’s still printing horribly, yet another brand I used, dried the same amount of time, printed beautifully.

Generic PETG works fine for me with standard settings of 255 for nozzle temp and 70 for bed.
255 is a bit higher than I have used on other printers but it seems to work well on the A1 mini and 70 is a bit lower for the bed but again it works well.

@LiquidCorn It really is a thing. Of course, just calling a filament “high speed” or “rapido” or “hyper” or “fast” doesn’t make it so. Plenty of slimy advertisers from you know where will slap on any label that sells regardless of merit. So, you use that as your first order sort. Then go through one by one and see what their specific claims are. Of course, no guarantees there either, so maybe avoid unknown brands unless it has an amazon a-z guarantee.

Bambu often needs temps on the high side of the range given by the manufacturer, or even higher, to keep up with the fast print speeds.

I usually go with Overture, as I’ve never really had any issues with it. Was thinking about trying Bambu’s TPU, but going to look up reviews first. The amount of stringing I got with this cheap garbage stuff my son bought a while ago, is insane. This is after 12+ hours in the dryer.

Any recommended retraction length?

I’m using default 0.4mm it works OK but sometimes seeing stringing
