This should be a good step in the right direction!
I am glad this is a step in the right direction too. There are people out there specifically the only person following me on MW who has hundreds of profiles… so the way to circumvent this is them asking the people who print the item to let them use their image as their print profile picture. People will always find a way to cheat the system it seems.
I want to believe in MW and I know it’s still going through growing pains but I suppose this is a step in the right direction for sure.
WOW!!! Listening indeed! When was the last time a company actually incorporated user feedback in a fairly quick fashion?
I’m more used to the Steve Jobs, “don’t use our product in a manner we don’t approve” school of thought.
Apple could take a lesson or two from these guys but then again, Apple would have to care about someone else’s opinion other than their own.
I dont think you need to worry about someone using pictures from the makes on the profile as first off, it was not mandatory to post pictures of finished print with the profile before, and second off the new message doesnt say you need to post your own photo. In the future you will need to have a printed photo ready for when you publish the print profile anyways so its just teething issues. The whole point of this is just to show someone has successfully printed this anyways.
I’m guessing the way they will detect this is just to check for photos that are not directly made importing the print plates. So with that said I’d be more worried about people simply uploading a photo from the slicer to avoid the detection system, or using photos that are automatically uploaded from the print profile when you edit an already uploaded print profile. There are images attached to them from before.
Well, Apple did finally join the USB-C world…so there’s hope?!? haha
Well regardless whoever the user that is following me enjoy uploading 500+ photos.
I believe they call that a shotgun wedding. The EU forced them to. Then they said they would “limit the speed of charge” for safety reasons and the EU regulators said, “Yeah, go ahead… make my day…”
I like that BL has been proactively responding to user feedback and I’m hoping these changes will have a positive impact on the platform. One part that isn’t clear though is if the maker or “Designer” print profiles will need to do this also. I hope that we can get some clarity there.
So this will ruin 2d artists who making prints for others?
im doing AiArtwork mostly and using hueforge and using official materials to trying simulate realworld image.
So my problem is this i like release these arts for people for free profiles and people can download and print them out. mostly i dont print these public releases for myself (so i have now print these out? to proof they workin?). begause want giving these for free people and want support my part makerworld. so this “regulation” will not giving change show people after 10days i assumed? (not going print all out, just for sure reallife picture)
mostly doing to upload these kinda works on using screenshot hueforge print. and making bambu studio profiles for sure they working.
i have few peoples also posted their prints of my work. and doing private prints they working fine.
So is there any solution of us then? or we just push down to the list!
I have a problem with reprinting a whole plate of things that I have already printed 5 plus times as individual components while developing it. After which I arrange all the parts for printing on a single plate for uploading. I don’t think the few points are worth the filament cost and time to reprint everything for a photo shoot. I also only print in ABS so not many people would use my profiles anyway. So experience counts for nothing, when creating a PLA profile for the ABS things I make. When people started complaining about bots adding profiles to the models, BambuLab said, “Our guys are experienced and know what will print good”. Just not so much for us though.
The rating system afterwards is backwards too.
You do not need a picture or comment to rate a profile poorly (1-3 stars).
I was able to rate a profile from the creator 1 star, even though I didn’t complete the print, I started and stopped it immediately.
NB I didn’t actually rate the profile but it would have let me do so.
Profile ratings should be removed. 1 profile by the owner should be allowed. If the user wants to create their own profile they should do so but shouldn’t be able to upload it. IMO
I hope they start filtering speed settings from the profiles - some of the profiles that claim “fast” just switch the printer to ludicrous speeds (set all speeds and accels higher and do silly stuff like that). I would never ever print from the mobile app when stuff like that could be hiding in there…
But this is a good start, they’ll get there one day
Yes, potentially damaging the printer if a child were to just choose to print a model and not look to see the printers current state.
Maybe it would also be good to actually print the objects for which print profiles have been uploaded. Let’s just take 500 x 50g = 25000g filament. With an average of 50g per model. The printing time of 250h would also be a house number, if 30min printing time per test model is calculated.
