Lots of issues with my 2nd X1C..totaly unreliable

Hello All,

I bought a second X1C over the holidays with the sale. Since this was my second I decided to omit the AMS and get the printer only. My 1st X1C has been running pretty much non stop for 12nmonths or so and rarely has failed prints. This new X1C has multiple issues and I struggle to get even a single print right. I mostly print PC but recently had a large run of PETG parts and never had an issue on my 1st X1C but the 2nd I had to toss most of the parts and then gave up and stopped using it.

Most of the time my issues are areas where the z axis steps too high and I get an unbonded layer or just a bad area in the print. I have lots of banding and ripple marks in the prints as well. Yet same parts on other X1C are flawless. both running exactly the same print settings.

Now I am having a new issue where it seems the print nozzle is dragging on the print and I end up with all sorts of debris on the build plate. Once this issue started I stopped using it completely. Anyone else having this issue and have an idea of what I can look at to fix it? Unfortunately I don’t have any photos but can run a print to show the aftermath if needed. I have tried recalibrations, vibration tests and nothing helps. Both printers are exactly same spec, running the same printer slicer settings and have the anti-vibration feet installed.

Another odd thing is the printer serial number on the new printer is considerably lower then the serial number of the printer I bought12 months ago and curious if I got a printer that someone sent back and it was then sold to me.

I think the first thing you should do is alert customer service / support.
You have device with issues and a “control” device. It will be pretty hard for them to argue that you’re doing something incorrectly.
There is obviously something wrong with your second printer.

…Sounds like you’ve already surmised the most likely case

Hey Marcwwebster, This sucks. Did you buy it from their website or was it from a secondary site? I have not printed in PC or PETG, so I’m not sure how those work as you probably would, but do you have the right plate and some glue on it? I also wonder if your sensors are bad on the z-axis. I’m sure you have done all the things that I said above, but I think what Lexi said is right; I think you summarized the most likely case. Hope you can get one that runs right.

I bought direct form them and sent in a support ticket last week so far no reply…ARGH
