Lube and thermal grease? What are they for?

I am new to 3D printing and have a X1C with AMS. The package came with some lube packets and thermal grease. Is there a guide for what needs to be lubed, how often, etc.? What about the thermal grease? I understand it’s purpose since I have been building PCs for decades, but I don’t see how it fits in with my new printer.

Thank you!

I had read this but thank you for making it clear for the community. Is there a video or guide that explains the proper contact points or is it obvious? I’m guessing it’ll be obvious.

Ugh… I need to get a LOT better at searching the docs. Thank you for your patience with a newbie. That is absolutely perfect and I love that the videos are extremely short and to the point.

Has anyone done any testing if higher performing thermal grease products result in any appreciable change in performance for 3D printing? I only ask because it is something I am aware of from PC building.

OK I’m a little lost. No docs came with my printer… so what docs are we all referring to? I saw someone mention the parts list in the link, but not sure which link. Wondering what the gold lubricating grease packets that came with my printer are for.

Welcome to the forum.

Take a read through the links posted above as the have a lot of very useful information.

The grease is for the lead screws and the thermal paste is for the nozzle.

Ok nevermind I think I found it… in the section: supplementary instructions for X1C and X1C combo accessories in the box:

it says the “grease is for the Lead screws”, so I guess not need to buy SuperLube yet.

Have you found The Bambu Wiki?

Sorry to reup the old post but I cant create a new one yet. I just lost the connector on the thermistor. I already ordered new thermistors but aside from the missing connector the old one is fine. Can someone tell me what type of connector that is? I think it‘s a JST but I can‘t figure out what specific model it is.

Thank you,
Andy
