I did a my normal maintenance on the X1 today.
I got the alarm two weeks ago which was at the fifth week since the last maintenance job. So when I was ready to clean the carbon rods. I noticed that it had lots of hard\high spots all the way across the X axis. After using lots of IPA on the rods and at the same time moving the carriage back and forth maybe eight to ten times. Then using paper towels to wipe both rods clean. Then it was moving smooth again. All the tightness went away.
Before and After pics.
Rod and belts at 2704 hours.
Now on to the lead screws. I clean them with paper towels also running the build plate up and down a couple of times. Trying to get the trash that is stuck on from the grease on the screws. Also using a 12"\300mm tweezers to get to hard to reach places. such as these in the pictures.
Don’t forget this too!
It causes bed leveling problem if the poop is big enough.
And this pic of the cutter lever that is original and has seen lots of ABS. Notice the color difference. The back cover broke and I changed it out. The front door I cleaned with IPA. It seems to clean up ok. I have a spare when needed.
I dont use any mods for the poop chute just Slicer Engineering plastic paint on the nozzle tip.
It works great for me. I have to reapply about every two weeks. Keeps the poop in the right place.
If you see poop that looks like this, it might mean that your rear toolhead cover is broken or cracked.
Kind of long. Hope you get something out of this post.
