Makerlab point

Can you buy makerlab points or only earn them?

As I understood it, the points are the ones you earn from uploading models or print profiles and receiving Boosts.

I’ve only seen them ā€˜sold’ in the Points shop.

I’m new to this forum. Are ML points important?

Welcome to the forum! Makerlab is a section of Makerworld that lets you create 3D models. You can see them all here:

All those things cost ā€œcreditsā€. You can buy the credits with Makerworld points. You get Makerworld points by doing all sorts of things. If you have a Makerworld account you can see what will earn you points and also what you can spend them on here:

If you’re here for the knowledge and comradery of the forum then no, the points aren’t important at all.

Seems like you need credits to print MakerLab statues. If you run out of credits is there no way to buy more? I assume you can’t use the Make my Statue or other Lab apps if you don’t have any?

You can buy the credits using MakerWorld points. You can get the points by doing things around the site:

I get that but that takes time to accumulate. Can you buy points with cash?

No, unfortunately that’s the only way they currently have setup to get them.

Hi

I recommended this community to a friend, and he opened an account. I’ve been explaining and giving him advice on how to get started using the different tools, and that’s when I realized he couldn’t access the initial 20-point reward for completing his personal information and avatar.

I think the reason is that the birthday no longer appears in ā€œPersonal Information,ā€ so it’s not possible to complete the information in any way. Is this a bug, @MakerLab ? Could you fix it and make the birth date available again?

Truly, those initial points given to new users for showing a minimum of interest in trying out the different applications are very helpful in their first moments in the community.

Where do we see how many MakerLab Credits we have left?

I’ve never knowingly exchanged any of my MakerWorld Points for MakerLab Credits but have been able to play with various MakerLab features, bust maker, relief maker, Ive been playing around in the MakerLab OpenSCAD parametric model maker a fair bit to test my OpenSCAD scripts will work on MakerWorld when I eventually publish them.

I didn’t even know MakerLab credits were a thing until I saw the Easter special offer for them!

From what I know these are for free. But you need to pay for exporting files in ā€œImage to 3Dā€ and when you click on the export icon there, it will show you the MakerLab Credits Balance (and honestly I don’t know any other way to see it).

Thanks Crow_ck

After clicking export do you get a chance to cancel, or do you only get to see your credits as you use them?

You can cancel without any problem. It shows you the credit balance and you get two options: cancel or use your points.
