Maker's Supply Affiliate Tool is Released!

For application to the Maker’s Supply Creator Program Incentive, you will need at least one of your models with Maker’s Supply kits or parts to achieve 2,000 downloads (Downloads + 2×Prints ≥ 2000). Please note that models only with Bambu Lab filaments do not fulfill this condition.

Once your application gets approved, you will start earning sales commissions for every successful purchase made by other users through the BOM section on your models that have Maker’s Supply kits, parts and Bambu Lab filaments when they reach the download count. Models only with Bambu Lab filaments will also get the sales commissions once you get into the Maker’s Supply Creator Program.

We hope this will address your concern.

@Makers_Supply

This is true though? And what about models that were uploaded prior to the change?

I see, that makes sense. Thanks for clearifying this.

The old rules were introduced eight months ago. Given the continuous expansion of our user base and the analysis of model data, models now require less time to reach 2,000 downloads. This is the reason we have opted to combine the two-stage points award into a single stage.

Prior to launching this new tool, we had been using a third-party affiliate tool to administer our incentive program. Throughout this period, we had to depend significantly on manual procedures to guarantee its seamless operation. The application and payout procedures were considerably more time-consuming. Therefore, by referring to it as an upgrade, we believe this new tool will assist our creators in more conveniently earning Cash incentives and conducting all related activities on the same platform.

We will continue to award points to the models that were uploaded and reached the Stage 1 and Stage 2 download counts before December 16, 2024, in accordance with the previous version’s rules.

Hopefully the above information would help with your question.

Do i understand this right?!

Once i apply for the Maker’s Supply Creator Program Agreement, every model which uses BOM or Bambu Filament (i.e. models wich would affiliate sales)
has to stay on the platform one addional year, after deleting the model?

so if i have a 5x3 magnet (or a filament spool) linked in the BOM, this model cant be taken offline, if i want to exit the program?

6.3.7 The Creator acknowledges and agrees that, to ensure the reasonable use and benefit of users who have purchased the Products, the corresponding Creator 3D Models shall remain available on the MakerWorld Platform for at least one (1) year after the Creator exits or is terminated from the Creator Program, regardless of the reason for such exit or termination. The Creator shall not delete the relevant Creator 3D Models from the MakerWorld Platform during this period. If the Creator attempts to delete the relevant Creator 3D Models, MakerWorld reserves the right to retain or restore the display links of the relevant 3D models to ensure continued availability for users.

They’re referring to models in the creator program; the ones sold as hardware kits on the store.

And it makes sense. It protects the consumer from a designer just rug pulling a model out. Could you imagine if someone bought a hardware kit, but in a week once it arrived, the designer had a fit and pulled their design?

I’m not entirely sure that’s the case, the fine print is a bit ambiguous:

So it seems that a model can be a Creator 3D model before it is upgraded to it’s own dedicated hardware kit. As long as you are in the creator program you can apply any model to it with a Bambu BOM. So might not be able to pull those models as well. Which ALSO makes sense in the same way btw, because people can still invest in components for those models, even without a dedicated kit.

If somebody decides to invest in the 380 magnets for my Catan Globe (link) it costs them a lot more then any dedicated kit. So it would be equally disappointing if they come back only to find that the model has been taken down.

So for me the language isn’t as clear as it could have been but it could well be that they mean ALL models with BOM from creators in the program

Not a concern, but a confusion. Thank you for the clarification that a designer has to be accepted into the Creator Program before eligible to earn commission from filaments sales through the BOM section. The models that I saw must be from designers in the Creator Program.

When I read the Incentive Rules yesterday, I saw this:
[
Approved creators will have the opportunity to earn a commission on the sales of specified parts and Bambu Lab filaments when the [Downloads + 2xPrints] of any of their uploaded models with Maker’s Supply BOM reaches 2000 .
]

Apparently I incorrectly interpreted the 'Maker’s Supply BOM" as a BOM including at least one hardware part.

The question that I have now is: How could I have missed all these benefits of using maker’s supply and the Creator Program, such as the additional points incentive, in additon to the sales commission, and even more benefits once the [downloads + printsx2] >= 3000. The fact that I had to take a break from 3D printing for a few months could be one reason, but there seem to be other designers who didn’t know about these either. Maybe MW should do another round of promoting this program

Their latest system update (yesterday) did promote it. I didn’t know it either, I just had some hardware parts in a successful model because I thought it was convenient for users. To my surprise I got this message a month ago:

Along with quite a generous amount of points. It has reached 2000 a couple weeks ago so I’m happy that these will fall under the old rules and I should get these points as well. But on the other hand I understand that the generosity had to be cut.

Oh and you didn’t have to be in the Creator Program to receive these points, and I think that is still the same. Only for the commission you have to apply?

Yes, and that’s clear from the Rules. The Points Incentive and the Sales Commission Incentive are two separate things. I didn’t know about it until this announcement and started reading the rules.

Is it possible to announce things like this in more visible channels, such as a Makerworld announcement, instead of just a forum post?

I would not have found out about this if I did not check the forum - something I avoid due to a group of users, unless necessary.

It has been announced, on the platform itself, in system notifications:

Quite visible I think.

Sorry for the confusion. Once creators join the Maker’s Supply Creator Program and start receiving sales commissions, it indicates that consumers have been purchasing Maker’s Supply kits or parts through their model links. This regulation is primarily in place to protect the rights of consumers who have placed orders via the BOM function. After receiving the non-3D printed parts, we want consumers to be able to return to MakerWorld and easily find the related models. Therefore, we require that the models remain on the MakerWorld platform for at least one year after the creator exits.

Thanks for your understanding, and I hope this answers your question.

I just realised that there is already a notification on Makerworld for this, please ignore my previous post.

no need for “please ignore previous post” types of posts

And why don‘t you just use a translation Service?
It‘s already built in in nearly every device and OS. Took me two clicks to understand his/her question.
Maker usually don’t behave like you did.

Why didn’t he use a translator service to answer a topic in the English part of the forum? Usually makers don’t have to let it all pass just so that others can do what they want.

And by the way, it was kind of a joke.
Merry Christmas.
