Maker's Supply Affiliate Tool is Released!

Hi MakerWorld Community,

We are extremely delighted to announce that Maker’s Supply has undergone a significant change! This change is aimed at empowering designers and enhancing the overall user experience. Here are the detailed information and highlights of this upgrade:

I. Upgrade of Affiliate Tool: Maker’s Supply Affiliate Tool Fully Integrated on MakerWorld Creator Center

The new Affiliate Tool will allow our designers to earn cash incentives all on the same platform, streamlining the process and providing a more seamless experience.

Main improvements include:

  • Simplified application process.

The process of applying for Maker’s Supply incentives has been fully optimized, which will make the process more concise and significantly reduce the time required, allowing our creators to focus more on creation.

  • Data analysis for Maker’s Supply Creator Incentive.

A new data dashboard has been added to display the creative achievements and incentive data with Maker’s Supply, enabling our creators to better understand their performance and earnings.

  • Enhanced withdrawal convenience.

The new tool integrates the “Wallet” function in the MakerWorld Creator Center as the withdrawal method. This means that our creators can now conveniently withdraw their earnings all in one place on MakerWorld.

  • More diverse incentive rules.

With our new tool, we can better customize and optimize the incentive program to meet the specific needs of our creator community and ensure a more efficient and rewarding experience for everyone involved.

II. Maker’s Supply Creator Incentive V2: More Flexible Reward Mechanism

With the continuous growth of our user base, observations of model data, and feedback from some creators, we have made the decision to upgrade our Maker’s Supply Creator Incentive mechanism. Key changes include:

  • Unified points incentive: The two-stage points award has been merged into a single stage, and the calculation method has been adjusted.

  • Commission Incentive campaigns: Time-limited commission incentive campaigns will be launched regularly to encourage creators to participate in more high-quality projects.

III. Maker’s Supply BOM Feature Upgrade: Integrated with Bambu Lab Filaments

In addition, we’ve integrated filaments into Maker’s Supply’s Bill of Materials (BOM) feature. This new function allows creators to include their recommended filaments in their models, ensuring users achieve the best possible results with their creations. For detailed incentive rules on filament sales commissions, please refer to the Maker’s Supply Creator Incentive V2 section.

It looks interesting (I’m not sure how the earnings will compare to having two stages; 5% of the BOM isn’t much, but I suppose it’s something), but I’m still waiting on my model to appear in the store. It’s quite past the 2k previously required and still way beyond the new 3k requirement. It’s been well over a month since it hit stage two.

Take a note from Amazon and allow users to grab Makers Supply affiliate links for promotion on other sites. AND if a designer includes BOM on a model, those clicks should provide that designer additional points day 1.

I don’t care if they’re a level 1 nobody, if someone clicked on their model page, scrolled down and clicked on the BOM part and ordered said part, that user deserves the points. Fix it.

I like this tool. I hope we’ll see some refinements. Like, I’d like to be able to filter/sort some of the datapoints. It’s much better than the previous system though. I’m sure it makes things easier for both Bambu and for the creators.

By filter/sort data points, I mean like being able to sort by BOM price or sales amount, or orders, etc. Being able to filter data like on the sales detail, being able to filter pending, or voided, or final, would be cool. Otherwise it’s a big long list of, ahh. It’s not as useful yet.

The other thing I would like to see, is some numbers that relate to click through for BOM stuff, for non creator program items. For items that haven’t made it to Stage1 or 2 yet, but use the BOM. I’m curious to know what the user engagement is, as it relates to them utilizing the BOM. I’d be curious to know this too how it’ll relate to filaments that are part of the BOM, and what the click through, purchase rate, or whatever, of that would be.

J’ ai pas tout compris … j’ ai un modèle à plus de 2000 téléchargements , est ce que ce sera automatique ou je dois m inscrire quelques part ?

Ah oui…

Or, as we say in English. Didn’t understand a bit

I have been getting Maker Supply Reward points for about 6 months now.

Does this new function, that I see I have to apply to, mean that I have not been making points for the last few months? And that I won’t make any point before my application is approved?

If you right click and copy the link that the button goes to it might actually work. Not sure though.

These are the old ones:

And this the new one:

So if I’m correct the total points reward is halved and the

Means that you ONLY get points after 2000 downloads and not at 1000 any more? Or am I blatantly missing something?

It doesn’t sound as an upgrade? Do the old more generous rules still apply to models uploaded before the change?

I thought I recently saw some uploads where the only things listed in the BOM were Bambu filaments.

I clicked at the link to the Usage Guide in this post and got the following:

Please note that models only with Bambu Lab filaments do not fulfill this condition.

So just to confirm: There is no benefit to set up the BOM if the model uses BL filament(s) but does not use any other makers supply hardware, right?

The thing that is being overlooked is that once you reach stage 1, you can start earning commissions. You don’t have to have an object in the creators program specifically. Or rather, an object kit in the store. So while the point system is simplified and merged into just one, you’re also getting opened up to other earning potentials that go beyond just points.

My understanding is that you wont get any points, but given enough downloads, it will open up to commissions?

If I understood the Guides correctly, if the only BL things that a model uses are BL filaments, then the model is not eligible to be in the program. The download count towards the 2k threshold will not start at all. Otherwise, every model on the platform will have the Maker’s Supply designation overnight

Yes, just one with a higher barrier to entry than the old version with a smaller reward.

Welcome to the upgrade.

Well, I don’t know. I’m just giving my reading of it, so yeah. Haha. A few added thoughts though.

Designs with only filament aren’t marked as Maker’s Supply. Or they don’t have the tag, as it were. They do show up in the Maker’s supply part of the creator center though.

So, it could be that the counter is started, it just doesn’t give any points at the threshold mark. It could still open it up to getting commissions though. :man_shrugging:. Bambu will tell us at some point, I’m sure. Maybe I’m just hoping it works this way!

I honestly think it’s fair that filament isn’t counted in the bonus point count. I think that would over inflate the value.

I don’t think having added filaments in the BOM would be an issue. It doesn’t tag it (from what I can see) as a Maker Supply model when there’s just filament. It still has to reach those thresholds, so do well as a model. So, it’s not like something you can do as a quick scheme. To get commissions from it, people still have to click through and buy it too. It’d be easier to do amazon’s affiliate stuff since it isn’t tied to first creating a model popular enough to reach the threshold to even make you eligible.

Anyway, I’m just musing at this point.

I would have loved that, because I haven’t started making ‘Maker’s Supply’ models yet. The only BL things I use are the filaments, and the printers  .

I don’t have a problem with others listing filaments as the only things in BOM. In fact, if there is a benefit doing so, I would want to do it, too. I was just confused when seeing these listings and wondered. When I clicked at the links to these filaments, I got the 404 ‘Page not found’ error though.

I didn’t even know about this until this post today, so I’ve now applied for it, not sure if it will generate that many points but it’s a cool incentive

Absolutely. Anyone with a model currently enrolled in the Creator Incentive Program should add any Bambu filaments used to their BOM. You will 100% earn commissions. Once you’ve added them, you should be able to view your commission ratios by going to Creator Center/Maker’s Supply/My Account Info & Commission Rules.

It should look something like this

I wonder how people interpret this:

Stage 1: Sales Commission
Approved creators will have the opportunity to earn a commission on the sales of specified parts and Bambu Lab filaments when the [Downloads + 2xPrints] of any of their uploaded models with Maker’s Supply BOM reaches 2000. This occurs when another user makes a purchase through the model’s Bill of Materials (BOM) and successfully completes the transaction.

So does it mean, if one model of a creator reaches 2000, that ALL models of the same creator will qualify for the sales commissions? It says “if ANY of their uploaded models…”

Or will only models with 2000+ downloads (aka downloads+2*prints) be earning commissions?

Especially with the more expensive hardware kits, Bambu should really allow users to earn commissions before reaching the 2000. I love the meg levitation kit, and I can’t wait to design something for it, but I know for sure there won’t be so many people printing a kit that’s 60$…

Each model taken independently must accumulate 2,000 combined prints and downloads.

Once that is achieved, that single model qualifies, providing MW agrees all was above board.

If model A has 2,500 combined downloads and model B has 500, only model A qualifies and nothing related to model B plays any part in any equation.

Once your models with Maker’s Supply kits and parts reach the download count, the points incentives will be awarded manually. You don’t need to apply anything for this part of the incentive.

The only thing you need to apply is the Maker’s Supply Creator Program Incentive, which is the cash incentive part. Once your application gets approved, you will start earning sales commissions for every successful purchase made by other users through the BOM section on your models with Maker’s Supply kits, parts and Bambu Lab filaments once they reach the download count.

Please note that no matter whether your affiliate authority gets activated or not, you will still get the point incentive for adding Maker’s Supply kits and parts to your models and reaching the download count.
