Hi all! I have a couple of the Maker’s Supply RGB USB Controller + Remotes, the remote has just a handful of mode cycles that are … functional… lol, but the “Rhythm light control” app that controls it via bluetooth is of course more robust - but very very limited. These LED strips use WS2812B individually addressable LED chips, very programmable with alternative Controllers, I know. But does anyone know of any other either compatible iOS app or Mac or Windows based bluetooth app that can control the USB controller Bambu Lab sells with these kits? None of the RGB bluetooth apps I tried on the iOS App Store would work, and I’ve only begun researching the ocean of options for PC based control. Was hoping someone else may have already found such a solution.
The reason I ask is because though these LED strips are addressable, the controller’s app and built-in modes, only run pre-made cycles that have a limitation for their gradients. e.g. you notice hard stops to all gradients and animations - among a 16ft string, you’ll see about 3 or 4 hard stops, it’s especially noticeable when you are in a RGB smooth gradient cycle, and you can see the colors moving along beautifully, then suddenly at a point in the strip the color starts over - as if it’s multiple separate segments. This is specifically why addressable LEDs are so cool, because you can control this - but the app is too ‘dumb’ to handle a whole string. I know you can set the ‘IC Set’ limit but it only turns off the un-used LEDs at the far end, and doesn’t affect the animations.

I have a bunch of the WS2812B strips and matrix boards for my Arduino models.
If you connect the end to a different controller, it will work. The wires are very standard, negative, data and positive.
Whether you are using an Arduino, a Bluetooth controller, or a home automation one, they just need to connect.
The picture you shared has the Bluetooth controller in the USB dongle.
Something like this from Amazon gives more control.

Thanks for the link! same here, I have a couple of other controllers, what a was hoping to do was find a ‘better’ way to let people using the maker’s supply dongle with more capabilities, wishful thinking I suppose

I found the apps not working for the USB-Controller, looking also into alternatives.
If you are fine with WLAN control, an ESP32 with WLED can make them smart see: https://kno.wled.ge/ this worked for me on all 5V LED strips
I´ve done tests with this one - WS2812B RGB LED Strip Light Bundle
For my case, i would like to have them controlled via ZigBee and i am still looking for alternatives since WLED does not support ZigBee, Thread or Matter.
I just ordered a pack of GLEDOPTO ZigBee 5-24v from Aliexpress to do more testing in that area, not an expert with the stuff - but they are too expensive to oder from Amazon - at least in Germany.
I currently only have 12-24v ones here i wanted to get this one White CCT Tunable COB LED Strip Light working, but always had problems addressing the them correctly.
I’ve gotten a glendopto zigbee3 controller to work with Philips HUE at least, those work pretty well and there’s plenty of choices on RGB/RGBW/RGBCCW etc.
