This may be something worth a try to deal with the alternate and bot accounts problem.
After all accounts that are real have been verified:
- only verified accts can upload models
- only verified accts can download models/profiles, or only downloads by verified accts can get reward points
- only verified accts can rate profiles and models
I like this idea; should also help ease up the stack of reports for Bambu employees.

Does being verified help prevent our models/accounts from being flagged by an uptick in downloads? I’m starting to get a little worried after seeing several posts about people saying they received bans or suspensions because of an uptick in downloads.
I frequently share my work on reddit, discord and instagram as well as having other 3d related websites and/or social media accounts request to post my work. Here is one such request that I received via Discord a few hours ago
“hi! we love your chess set – I don’t want to promise anything, but would you be interested in having us feature it ? may we share it on social media etc. ? thanks!”
I always say yes because I’m trying to drive traffic to my work, and MakerWorld as a result. Often times, that comes with an uptick in views and downloads. I mean, what’s the point of uploading my work if I can’t share it or get punished for sharing it?
Rapid increases in download counts will not result in account suspensions or bans. On the contrary, we encourage designers to promote their own creations on social media platforms in a reasonable manner.
MakerWorld takes action against accounts involved in downloads through the use of bots, rather than penalizing regular user downloads.

So it’s safe to say that some of these users are getting banned for one year because they ARE using bots and ARE cheating the system. And they come on this forum and act like they didn’t do nothing. Good grief!
