I just got a system notification about it. Is this a new thing? And if so, what does it mean? Verified how?
Lucky you, seems like they random pick internal? I don’t know what other information needed to be verified.
I’ve no idea what it even means except now that I’m looking more carefully, there’s a little green icon next to other “verified” makers. It also seems to be rather rare.
I hope I don’t appear to be humble bragging. I just hadn’t noticed it before and thought it was a new thing for everyone!
You’re not coming across as bragging at all and thanks for sharing this data BTW. If it weren’t for your post, I’ll wager most of us wouldn’t know of this process existing.
Like you, I am deeply curious as to what constitutes “verification”. To me that typically means in the cyber space arena that you’re credentials have been authenticated using multifactor authentication(MFA).
Do you recall having responded to let’s say a verification message on Handy? Or perhaps maybe an email challenge after already authenticating? Are you perhaps using a Gmail or Google or Microsoft authenticator app? I’m curious because this would be a tell as to what is going on in Bambu’s mind.
As an example, the Steam gaming distribution platform goes out of it’s way to thwart multiple accounts by the same user. They use their phone app as MFA. Once that’s done, if memory serves, your profile is granted some sort of medallion. Forgive me for not remembering the exact process. Being recognized on a public platform as “verified” with a bunch of fellow strangers who likewise are using aliases gives me a big case of the cyber-ick as far as personal privacy goes.
We’ve already seen examples of their Bambu’s of trust. As an example, others have reported an experience I recently had first hand with Bambu Warranty. Bambu granted me warranty coverage on a damaged build plate but I had to hand-write the serial number on a sticky note and place it next to the damage and send them a photo. A little over the top I’ll admit but I certainly understand it and don’t begrudge the extra verification.
Have you linked your username to/with any other sites , (reddit ? )
I did and it turns out that’s part of why I was verified. I’m guessing it’s more than that because I’m certainly not in the minority; there’s loads of makers who did link their other profiles.
I’ve been told that the verified status will eventually rolled out to include past contest winners which is what I think was the other reason. I placed second in the first Makerworld contest. The first and third place winners now have verified status as well.
I would assume its more to do the use of the username and account its been linked with , but i could be wrong . Congrats on placing in the Makerworld contest
This is true but doesn’t quite explain why all makers who have linked their profiles haven’t been verified. There should be hundreds of them based on that brouhaha that happened way back when Prusa blocked Makerworld.
I did receive a private message from Makerworld about this, explaining it further. Since they contacted me directly, I’m not sure how much information I’m allowed to share. I will ask them if I can share their response and update accordingly.
Do you mean this ?
how can i do that i need to know
Yes, that’s the one.
Copy and paste the link with or without * cross * site tracking ?
@ExpectDeer In my opinion thats about money, as bambu lab must of cornered a fair share of the prusa market, then they want to " share " the accounts from printables also
Oh, I’m not trying to justify or explain the whole Printables/Makerworld drama. I’m just making a conjecture that based on the hue and cry this generated, there ought to be a lot more verified makers because they eventually worked out how to get models over to Makerworld.
Also bear in mind that this could simply be a case of frequency illusion on my part. I only started noticing other verified icons because now I have one. And since I only started noticing, maybe there are hundreds more?
Also, FWIW, I linked my other profiles within the first week of creating my Makerworld account back in October of 2023 so getting this system message now was odd to me.

A quick search reveals some of your latest? reddit posts
bearing in mind makerworld/bambu lab would also want to verify models and creators liked to them.
My Makerworld ID/account is different from my forum/reddit account. Reddit and the Bambu Forums are linked because I applied for beta testing for…something…can’t remember what…months before Makerworld.

Yes, that’s me. I’m still not quite sure what you’re getting at?
I know that I match the criteria for being “verified” in the traditional sense because I’ve linked everything together; I’m not disputing that. The remaining questions are why now if I did this ages ago, and why aren’t there more of these verified accounts? At this point, I’m starting to think it’s a new feature and they’re doing this manually versus with a bot which would explain both questions.
Their email didn’t explain it either, but that’s my best guess. There’s one more bit of info in there, not earth-shattering or anything, but I don’t know if I’m allowed to share it. I’ve asked so we’ll see if they answer when they open later.
Oh, and btw, on the off-chance this topic disappears is because I asked for it to be removed last night after they contacted me. Not because there’s a conspiracy or anything to hide lol. I just didn’t want to engender bad feelings like “why’d they get it and I didn’t?” At least that was my thinking last night which isn’t always the clearest when I’m tired.
Im just trying to offer a reasonable explanation for the question you asked
cross site tracking verifying your linked account and why it may of taken so long
after all i understand CS are very busy with the holiday back log, nothing more than that
Ah I see. I think this was just a case of us saying the same things but understanding differently
So thank you for explaining part of the mystery! The rest we’ll have to see and/or guess at
