Making threads with Fusion that fit after printing

Hi all,
I’ve recently moved from Creality to a Bambu Lab P1S Printer… what a revelation!
I’ve also been using Fusion to make various projects, many of which have internal threads. However it seems that modelling a 3 or 4mm thread doesn’t equate to the same thread when printed. I’ve tried scaling with some success but wondered if anyone has come up with a formula for this operation.

Thanks

Well, that seems like a bit small to get good results. Not that it cant be done, it likely can but may take some tweaking.

Important to consider the material here but I’ll assume you know that.

Here is what works for me (but on a 10mm thread):

  • Create the screw and nut as normal.
  • Fillet the screw thread edge a small amount (I did 10% or 1mm of 10mm)
  • Offset the two faces of the thread to create a tolerance (I did 1% or 0.1mm of 10mm)

This has worked well for me (found in a fusion video I can’t be bothered to link sorry). Of course if you are only creating the nut and using a steel screw then just apply the process to the nut to create the tolerance.
