Managing Filament

Hiya all! I make my own models and also download sometimes, but I am finding with many prints it does seem worth it to use the special filler/support PLA because of the tool time and change times/wear and tear. What do you guys think?

Okay, sure it can be useful

but that contradicts the first part… the wear and tear and time is a reason why not to use special support material…

Try using the support material only in the support layer, not all the support structure.

The support material is supposed to be used as interface material with most of the support printed using the plastic being used for the model.

For models with supports all at the same layers it’s minimal added wear. For other models that have support interfaces at multiple levels, there can be more filament swaps.

But the tradeoff is using stock supports which depending on settings can leave scars on models or be hard to detach.

What we think doesn’t really matter. It’s your choice on how you want to print. Don’t like interface material? Don’t use it.
