Manual Spool Switching

For various different reasons I’d like to be able to manually swap between spools in the AMS.

An example of when this would be useful:
When certain spools of filament get to the end of the spool the AMS is unable to continue printing because the tag end of the filament is attached to the spool. Many users know this frustration after finding out the tag end was taped to their spools. It would be really useful to be able to remotely (in Bambu Handy or Studio) swap to the next spool instead of the printer sitting idle.

This would also be useful for spools that get stuck for other reasons such as tangles, brittle filament that breaks off in the AMS, carboard spools that don’t feed well, etc.

wouldn’t say manual switching… would be nice to set a backup spool (or spools, Hey AMS, get any filament from a slot you can work with!) the AMS can switch over for any reason of filament cannot get pulled from a spool.

  • end of filament stuck on spool
  • filament is tangled
  • filament is broken (same as empty)
  • filament is empty
  • AMS motor malfunction

just any reason why the ams isn’t able to pull from the selected slot.
BUT: we need to get noticed too, while or after the print, so we can check what’s happend to the spool, not starting over for another print.
