I just received my X1-Carbon combo today and very anxious to keep learning. Set-up was pretty quick and from what I’ve seen of earlier YouTube videos, instructions are getting better but it really is pretty straight forward. I wanted to familiarize myself with printer basics so I am initially just printing some of the objects from the internal storage, benchy, scrapper and a few things like that so I can look at some of the print quality and a few things like that. In the AMS I have two spools of PLA Basic and two spools of PETG. I have tried selecting one of the filaments other than the one in slot 1, which happens to be PLA. When I select the object, scrapper, it only shows the filament in slot 1 and none of the others. If I back out of that screen (on the front panel) and navigate to the filament section where you load filament into each slot, it shows all four spools properly. My question is, once an object has been loaded into the printer (whether from the internal objects area or I’ll assume from an object stored on a microSD or if sent from Bambu Studio) doesn’t the user have the option of telling the printer to print using a filament from any of the slots?
Thanks,
Greg
Unfortunately in the presliced, provied by BL there is still no way to select other filament / AMS slots.
Those are only Sliced for their Bambu PLA-Basic in Slot 1.
Selecting other filament would require reslicing the Models via Bambu Studio.
The Machine doesnt Slice, it only Prints.
Only the presliced ones from Bambulab have the Slot Locked to the first.
Once you threw a model and settings at BS it would let you coose the slots, but not the filament type, which you have to predefine in the Slice.
Thanks so much for the clarification. I was thinking that was probably the case but couldn’t really find anything in the manual that mentioned it. (Hopefully someday we will get a comprehensive pdf manual for all of the Bambu products). Not criticizing just expressing a wish because from what I’ve seen on YouTube and everything else about their products I think they are GREAT! I know I still have a lot to learn but coming from the Ender 3 and a Craftbot Pro I have some knowledge but certainly have a lot to learn, especially now that we have the abilities with the AMS!
Thanks for the help…now back to playing…err work!
There is a wiki maintained by BL, but its still not even nearly complete.
