Material usage estimates grossly off

Hi.
I never used to monitor the estimated usage figures when generated a print, but I recently installed a 0.6 nozzle and have been weighing my partially used rolls (and subtracting the roll itself) to try and use them up on prints that are the right size.

I have noticed that the material useage in grams is about half of what the completed print is.
For example, ona a recent chest-plate print, the estimate was 160g. I loaded a roll with 200g of plastic, and then it ran out half way.

When I weighed the final article, it was 350g.

is there a problem with calculations generally? or with 0.6 nozzle?

Did you change your nozzle size in the slicer after you put the .6 in?

What about flow rate? Did you run any calibrations with orca slicer?

Hi.
Yep I changed to the X1 0.6 profile as soon as I changed the nozzle.
The print came out perfectly, the only problem was the software estimate which was grossly under valued, whuch only cam eto my attentian when I weighed the roll of plastic and ran out only half way through.

You could, and probably should, file an issue at the GH repo: Issues · bambulab/BambuStudio · GitHub

But looking at the repo, and the amount of unresolved issues, one has to wonder if they’re still up to the task.

Did you lookup or calculate the density of the material that you are using and modify this in the filament settings of the slicer? If that value does not correspond with what you are using, the calculation of the weight will be off.
