is there a way to view my models as a mesh or outline and not as smooth shaded in the “prepare” mode ?
I am trying to add modifiers inside objects for extra strength but its impossible to position them properly as once they are inside another object you cant see anything…
a mesh view would solve this but i dont see the option anywhere…
There is a Mesh view feature but it only covers the outer mesh and it sounds like that’s not what you want. I think know what you’re looking for and it would definitely be a nice feature but sadly, it is not in Bambu Studio or Orca Slicer.
If I understand you correctly, your looking for something like one of these.
The only tool I found that helps one diagnose how the layers are laid down is the layer tool. While it only does a layer analysis in the Z axis, I suppose a workaround would be to rotate the model and then slice and layer analyze in that vector.
I found a way to do this in Bambu Studio only… without CAD software.
Instead of trying to use mesh boolean:
Firstly, merge a bunch of objects, they should now appear in the object list as an Assembly.
Right click objects and go Change Type. You can now make them a Part or a Negative Part (which are not printed).
You must always have at least one set to Part, but you can create another random object in the assembly and keep it as a “part”.
This lets you hide the outer most mesh and see whats “happening inside”.
Before you slice, you just need to think about whether you want every object to be a real Part or Negative Part.
I found this very useful for creating molds which I can cast silicone and epoxy into. In this method you do not need to use Mesh Boolean at all except if you are trying to simplify / reduce the number parts.
yes cant beleive this feature is not present - makes it super hard when you have objects inside of objects and are trying to position them. We are printing a lot of art and need to add solid plugs inside to strengthen the connection to bases etc
solution i found, which works ok for now, is if you have multiple parts in a group, you can just disable the group using the checkbox next to its name (Assembly here)…
