Metal plate that was sticked inside the poop chute fell

What is this metal plate that was sticked inside the poop chute (that it just fell out of) for? and where does it go back?
It came off as for no reason at all purge filament solidified in the part of the chute… the bin behind… no filament went through the back.
The purge tower for at the far right which is the correct position.
As a result the hotted was bent and had to replace it.
I noticed at random times during multiple ams filament swaps filament can get stuck on top and then its a disaster!

I believe the plate is there for two reasons: Reflect heat so the bin doesn’t deform from nozzle heat, and present a surface purge material wont stick to. Just glue it back.

Anyone know where it goes? There’s a thread on Reddit but the link to demonstrate is expired.

it sits on the (inside) wall nearest where the hotend is when purging, reflecting heat away from the plastic chute.

I lost my metal plate and need a replacement. I’d rather not order the 15.00 chute and take all of the time to replace it as the plate is the only thing I need. Does anyone know where I can get one?

I would try to cut a little piece of self adhesive aluminum tape and stick that on? From the hardware store or Amazon…

Hi DeVerm

Lost mine too and didn’t notice it at first! Got poops and they accumulated big time … till I did take a look at this forum for an answer, since I almost never had any problems …
Good idea! I just tried a piece of thick alu foil … with adhesive spray …
Looks very promising after a few prints
