Micro SD Ejector Models

Seeing as I’m a habitual nail biter, I created this model to make removing the micro SD card much easier.

This was then remixed to also include a plastic scraper:

Then I noticed this inspired design designed to be much easier to hold

I’ve since moved to using one of the Micro SD extension PCBs as I use the card so frequently and it makes removing it from my laptop easier too

The adapter does have to be removed and reinserted in order to get things to refresh, so flexible ones designed to make it a full size SD etc. aren’t all that useful as you still have to remove the micro SD end.

I know its offtopic but I wonder why people are using the SD card at all. Its so cumbersome and slow. May I ask whats your motivation behind it?

So I use the microSD card as right now it is
a) a nice fast way to get timelapses and videos from the printer
b) an easy way to have a set of models or files printed frequently on hand at any time
c) the only way to print when you’re using an alternative slicer (which I do on occasion as Bambu Studio currently is missing some features and handles things in a different way to others)

It does help that I have a Micro SD slot in my laptop, so it’s a matter of seconds moving the card from one to the other.

Thanks for sharing. Some valid points.

I keep installed for the same reasons as @mowcius. I do use one of the ejectors to make it quick to remove. I also keep it on had for reviewing full video of failed prints to help isolate a reason.

Anyone know what the limits are on the SD card in terms of size?

Up to 2TB or so IIIRC, but they have to be formatted as FAT32, which is less easy with larger cards on a computer.

The easiest way to get around the formatting issue is to format them on the printer itself.

How do you format the card on the printer? I don’t see an option for that, and it doesn’t prompt me to when I put the card in. I’m sure I’m missing something obvious, but I don’t see it.
