Models taking over printer settings

I can see why this is done, but sometimes the new profile completely trashes the settings already established in Studio. A lot of the time they are not appropriate. I foolishly downloaded one that set 70% infill and a 0.2 nozzle!

I didn’t notice the nozzle change and the print failed. OK, you can say I should pay more attention, but if Bambu want to make this user-friendly, this sort of thing will not cut it.

How about a pop up warning if the new profile does something drastic like change the nozzle size??

I check everything if its a download file, I think it would be impossible for them to warn of a change because they cant know what your current settings are, apart from printer type, I think it would be very complex and raise privacy concerns.
all my profiles are saved , and backed up, and I check, printer, nozzle and filament.

I like to look through the downloaded profile to see if there are things I can take and learn from them if its a good print

If you make settings in Bambu Studio, then you should save these settings in a custom profile. Also save your project in a 3MF. Otherwise there is always the possibility that these settings will be lost.

A possible option is also to open Bambu Studio another time and then load foreign content there. If you do everything in just one Bambu Studio window, it actually gets a bit messy.

Have a nice day!

Thanks guys, yr comments very helpful. i have decided to always download stl files for the moment.

i really dont think 3d printing is ready for normal consumer use. I am currently dealing with a hopelessly tangled Bambu refill (how does that happen??) and installing a second AMS (do i switch on the printer before AMS 2 or not??)

Sigh…

You need many experience make a stl-file printable. Often is a problem the print speed and sometimes the acceleration. Easier it is at printers who print at lower speed. With the saved settings, 3MF enables you to successfully complete even difficult prints without having to think too much. You cannot use e.g. modifiers that make a printed part even more printable because they are not stored in STL files.

Have a nice day!

Yes but those files change other settings it shouldn’t, like what type of printer and hot end size can cause problems if it isn’t noticed. I prefer the stl files.

It is a good idea to add a warning when you sending a print job to a printer which has different nozzle diameter.

Bambu Handy will automatically block this case. We also need to add it to Bambu Studio.

It is suggested to check the Ratings of a print profile before downloading it.

If it is a fresh print profile, please check whether the uploader has attached an actual print photo. Or you may download it slice and check whether it is okay.
