More sync/resync queries

I am trying to understand this whole sync/resync thing, after hours of reading. I admit to being a relative new-comer to this world!

I have X1C with AMS and am using Orca slicer. I had the AMS loaded with three genuine Bambu reels with RFID (in slots 1 -3) and a reel of Sunlu PLA in slots 4 (I have a custom profile for the SunLu PLA, which I can see in the drop-down list on the “Prepare” page of Orca). So far, so good.

I swapped the Bambu PLA in slot 2 for a Black SunLu PLA; the new filament loaded into the AMS correctly. So the order is
Bambu Support, SunLu Black, Bambu Red, Sunlu Grey

Then On Orca I hit “Sync” (I subsequently tried both “sync” and “Resync” several times with the same result).

Orca now shows me only 3 filaments -

Bambu, Bambu Red, eSunPLA+ Grey, (Slot 4 not shown)

On the “Device” page, The AMS display is telling me , in order
Bambu Support, Unknown, Bambu Red, eSunPLA+ Grey

When I manually configure the filaments on Orca Prepare page to
the actual configuration, the Device AMS display is unchanged.

I can select Filament 2 for my model on the Prepare page OK, but when I go to print, on the Device page the printer defaults to slot #4 (which it insists is eSunPLA+ Gray) and when I select slot #2 manually it tells me I have an unknown filament in slot #2. And I cannot see my SunLu profile in the drop down list here although it is clearly visible on the list in the “prepare” page of Orca.

So I have NO IDEA what the printer thinks it would be printing in terms of filament profile, etc - (I spent some time calibrating the SunLu profile.)

Why is what I see on Orca slicer, what is actually loaded in the AMS, and what the printer thinks, so clearly NOT synchronised? (I tried it also on Bambu slicer with the same results.)

I would really appreciate some insight here…

Do you change the filament data on the X1 display just after loading it in the AMS?

No, I didn’t do anything on the printer display. I assumed that I could do anything I needed to do from my desktop. Wrong assumption?

I always do it on the printer and then sync. Try it.

If I use an alternative product, I would seek support from the community there. That’s the normal process.

Thanks Electroquark,
Can’t try it just now but even supposing that’s a work-around, it doesn’t answer the question WHY does it not sync in the way I expect? Maybe it’s not supposed to…but then what is it supposed to do?

Hey Kannekaffe, not sure what you mean about alternate product… If you mean Orca, then for Orca read “Bambu” because it behaves just the same…

Zumindest ist es auf Reddit vertreten https://www.reddit.com/r/OrcaSlicer/
