Is it possible for a multi-color print to indicate in the slicer what color the printer should start with (primarily for the first layer)? I suspect this would very much improve the result in my particular case.
I think there was a thread with the same question, but currently it was not possible i think.
Yesterday i tried to play a bit with the numbers of the spools in the ams.
What are the numbers of the filaments you want to print in which order?
I have two filaments, black and white. For some reason, the slicer always starts with black. During printing, small strings/spots of black filament are left behind, thereby polluting the areas that are covered by white filament later on. Probably, if the printer starts with the white filament, this issue is resolved.
In which spool-slots are your filaments?
Yesterday i printed comparable things.
I wanted to print letters on a cable reel but had a lot of the same problems like you.
Somehow i could change the order of the first printed color by switching to a lower number
of the spool in my AMS.
But the effect was worse than i hoped. I will try to take some pictures to show what i mean.

Black is present in slot 2, white in slot 4.
Never tested this, but if you make a tiny object, 1 layer, 5x5mm in an unused corner.
Give that part the desired color.
Then add your main model and paint it etc. etc
In âOthersâ select âPrint sequenceâ and then By Object
You can rearrenge the objects in the left menu below the filament selection with âProcessâ and switch from Global to Objects, just drag them around.
It appears to print top to bottom, so the tiny object is in the list at the top, and the rest of the object(s) below that.
Does this work for you?
Try white in one, maybe this works.
But in my case, the thin parts got better when i printed them first
Thanks, I will try this evening (CET)
Here are my results from the slicer, i easily switched the colors/AMS-Slot-Numbers and it worked for my project.
Here my results:

Thanks, but I donât see what actually changed. Filament locations, for example, donât seem to be swapped.
Blue is in slot 2 and pink in slot 4.
When i swapped the color from words and housing the slicer showed that he allways prints the color from slot 2 (blue) at first.
Thanks, thatâs very interesting. I will definitely try this.
THIS has been driving me CRAZY lately because Iâm doing an inlayed text on the bottom layer and it keeps wanting to print the text first when it is colorized by spools 2 or 3. Spool 4 does not alter the order.
Basically:
Body 1, Text 2 = Text Prints First
Body 1, Text 3 = Text Prints First
Body 1, Text 4 = BODY Prints First (Desired Result)
No changes other than âremove all paintingâ and recoloring to test.
I have been changing the AMS slot prior to printing, but this should not need to be done if there was a way to select print order⌠or if the numbers on the slot got priority in some meaningful way. Slot one before 2, 2 before 3, etc.
Yes, it is possible for a multi-color printing to indicate in the slicer which color the printer should start with, especially for the first layer. Many slicer software programs have features that allow you to define the order of colors for each layer or specify the starting color. By setting the appropriate parameters in the slicer, you can improve the results of your multi-color prints. It is recommended to consult the documentation or user guide of your specific slicer software for instructions on how to set the starting color for multi-color prints.
Based on your statement, it appears that there may have been a previous thread discussing a similar question. However, currently, it seems that it is not possible to indicate the specific order of filaments in the AMS (Assisted Material Setup) system. Yesterday, you attempted to experiment with the spool numbers in the AMS.
To determine the specific order of filaments you wish to print, you can refer to the documentation or user guide of your printing equipment or software. These resources should provide instructions on how to set the order of filaments for your specific printer model. If you are unable to find the information you need, it may be helpful to consult the manufacturerâs support or seek assistance from the printing community to obtain the desired filament printing order.
I canât follow you, but maybe you answered the wrong post?! My answer was last month and since that day i had no problems with this.
looks like buttshani472 is a A.I. reply
or A not I
Listen its simple, you use the color pallets on the left of the slicer. you can change the colors on the pallet where typically you have your AMS colors. Once you slice and print then you pick your actual slots. That pallet doesnât translate to AMS but everyone thinks it does. you obviously are limited to pallet colors for whatever is loaded but thatâs how its done.

It is possible, set it in the plate settings: Set the filament printing sequence for different layers | Bambu Lab Wiki
