Multipart models

Hi,
in PrusaSlica, I can import a STL base model, then add parts to it, and allocate different extruders to those parts.
All the parts are in the correct location when loaded as per the design in Fusion360.
However when I load the base model, then add the parts in Bambu Studio, the parts all lay flat on the bed and have lost there intended locations. Is there a way around this ?

Take all the stl’s which corresponds to a single object and drop them into BS. It will ask if it should be imported as individual objects of a multi-part object.
Select yes for multi-part object and all the individual sub-objects keep their relative positions inside the model

You can also add parts by right click the first and add part loaded from file.

If you can export as step components in the step model should be loaded as parts.

Hi,
thanks both.
For PrusaSlicer I always imported the main STL, then added parts to it by right clicking, etc. I never used the method of selecting all stl’s and dropping onto the bed, but that method does work for BS, great. @Forbee if I load the main part in BS then right click add parts, it does not add them correctly.
Strange thing is the initial pop up message states do I want to the mm scale, and if I say yes, it screws up the model. So I say no, and all is well. Even though I model in mm in Fusion360…

STL as well as 3mf store the information (as far as I saw) without information about the size itself. So the slicer ‘assumes’ as soon as parts gets a bit small it is maybe modeled in another scale and if it should rescale. 99% of the time ignore the message (especially if you have created the model by yourself)

Another note on the import individually - I found in the past it was a hit or miss. To be 100% sure drop them at once.
And if you want to have a more flawless workflow - model your individual bodies in F360 as seperate components under a main component. When exporting for 3D printing, select the main component and export it as 3mf. Much smaller size and has the individual sub-models arranges as designed.

Hi Joe,
I never did get/understand how components work in Fusion360, but hey.
Strange thing is that for PrusaSlicer, the drop file on bed method doesn’t ask me it they are individual or part of a multi-part model…
