Mutliple instance / release of bambu studio

Hello

I am still hesitating to migrate on the last release of BB studio…

I just bougth a new laptop and when I try to install Bambu studio, i have no choise to selct the level of release I want…

As I could use two laptop to pilot my cnc machines and printer, is it possible to have one instance with old release on old laptop and another one with new release on the new laptop ?

is the relaese level only on the PC level, or also on the printer and so the old could’nt work ?

Thanks for our advices

I’ve been holding off upgrading Studio because I have no intention to upgrade my firmware. I’m wondering if I upgrade Studio whether I’ll be forced to use the new authentication system. Part of me wants to upgrade Studio because of bug fixes and new features and because I often get a message saying the 3MF I’m trying to open from MakerWorld was created in a newer (beta?) version of Studio.

Firmware update is separate from studio update. Updating bambu studio for now won’t force firmware upgrade on printer.

for now, it’s the correct formulation, as when it comes to Bambu, one can never know when such things become reality.

Thanks for your answer. I will instal BBS on my new laptop… hope that the firmware update would not become mandatory…
I don’t use orca only BBStudio but I don’t like the idea that my printer will began more and more closed… i am on the 3D printing mouvement till the very early beginning. All that exist now is due to open source and maker movement…
I finally regret my purchase… I don’t like the direction BBLab is taking.

You do actually, but not as part of the installer. You simply download the version/release you want to use from

To access certain features, there is always some element of dependency between the firmware version installed on the printer, and version of Bambu Studio on the computer. i.e. for the experimental filament purge reduction feature you can use on the A1, you need a compatible version of Bambu Studio to use that feature, as well as be running firmware that supports it.
