nozzle keeps hitting the prints around the same height. usually around 97% completion. I have tried different print plates. different nozzles.
i have bed levelled ,and have tried different forms of adhesion on the beds with glue sticks or hairspray.
This has happened with multiple different models and multiple different filaments.
everything is updated and I use the bambu studio slicer.
I have lubricated everything multiple times and there is no obstruction on the z-axis as far as I can see.
as far as I can tell, it is not an adhesion problem, it seems like a z step problem with the printer. as you can see in the pictures, the nozzle has embedded itself into the prints of the bunnies.
Can you print one successfully? Check your file for errors if not. The racoon has a layer shift as well. How long ago did this start? Any changes to your setup?

I have 3 failed batches of racoons, 2 batches of failed bees, and 2 batches of failed bunnies. I was one of the first batch of people to get an A1. I ordered mine in the first hour of its pre-order listing. this started around 10 days ago. nothing changed from before.
if I make 3d print that are shorter than the fail height shown in the pics, it works fine. but as soon as my prints are taller with multi color, it always fails.
correction, it now fails every print.
Looking at the photos I can see on the Racoon has a definite layer shift. I had the same problem on a print where the filament sensor detected a jam, I cleared it and the machine tried to go back into the print BUT there was a major shift. On my print it was about a 1mm shift. It wouldn’t have cause the same failure you are having but because it didn’t have to cross the rest of the print it just shifted. It almost looked like it didn’t start in the same section it stopped in.
Could you print a test tower and see what layer it fails at if it does or if there are any weird layer issues, or if it does at all on a single color print?
It’s very interesting that the print head is going to that level and lobotomizing those poor bunnies. It seems it should be past that level since it should have been printing the ears, it seems that portion should be cleared. I’m wondering if your Z axis is moving during filament changes, or if the prints are lifting from the PEI sheet. Does your purge block show the same issue?

Just replaced the micro SD card and uninstalled and reinstalled Bambu studio, and that fixed it!
I think it was the slicer, but it is fixed now. Yay.
Purge block was fine.
I started trouble by using Orca slicer and it seemed to work fine, but I was not able to cancel specific sprints when printing multiple items, so I uninstalled and reinstalled Bambu studio and replaced the micro SD card, and now my A1 works like new.
Great, It’s a good practice to take a step back if you’ve made changes and now something has gone seriously wrong. Good call. Even though Bambu Studio is based on Orca to 2 are quite different.
I’m waiting for simply3D to finally get an A1 profile. But I’ll always have BBS loaded because it works.
