My CyberBrick truck runs continuously... how to stop it?

I had lots of fun building the CyberBrick controller and truck and was very careful to follow the instructions. I set up the software and paired them but the truck just keeps running continuously. The right joystick works to control the front wheels but the left stick doesn’t seem to do anything. The only way to stop the truck’s back wheels from running is to turn it off. I have disassembled the controller to check my work and all connections look to be tight and correct.

Any help with would be greatly appreciated, I am at my wit’s end trying to fix it for my daughter.

Thanks

Hi there,
can you share some screenshots how the truck and remote is setup in the cb software?
It would also be great if you could share some pictures how its wired up.
Does it show any change of throttle at all if you move the left stick up and down?

But did you test all the electronic hardware?

After disassembling the truck, I recommend laying the receiver components out on the table and testing each component individually.

Make sure all the inputs actually work as expected before reinstalling.

This approach will help you quickly pinpoint any issues and isolate the problem. From there, you can methodically swap out motors, boards, wires, and other components as needed.

@ geokov Did you load the code in app to control the remote and the truck, or did you load the code for remote and truck plus forklift? With the latter, you also have to bind the forklift, otherwise funny control outputs happen.

You might check the wiring in the remote. Open connections there will cause bad behavior in the model.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to help. I will post some screenshots later today.

Thank you for your suggestion, I tested the controller connections I do intend to disassemble the truck but I thought I would post first just to see if it was a common problem with a simple fix.

Hi, thanks for your help. Just the controller and the truck code.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to help. I did disassemble and check all the connections in the controller. I didn’t find anything specific but the left joystick seems to be not doing anything.

Try swaping left and right joystick, to pin-point the error. Try also replacing the cable.

I wish I’d thought of that when I had it all disassembled. Will try that later today, thanks very much for the suggestion.

This is a very useful thing to have, from @MalcTheOracle . It makes it MUCH easier to debug your system as you can measure each input while it’s running.

Thank you, I appreciate it.

It was something I made for myself without ever considering uploading for others until a moment of “someone might find it useful”.

Thank you for posting it. I’ve made a generic Receiver Breadboard and that might be even more useful (given that TX is pretty uniform, model to model) but I’m not sure I want to get into the MakerWorld craze. Thingiverse has a lot going for it…

I ended up swopping the joystick modules right to left and that solved the issue. Thanks very much to all who took the time to make helpful suggestions, I really appreciate the assistance. :grinning:
