No one asked, but it is the internet lol. Anyway, I feel like plenty has been said about the size of the H2D (not large enough), and I understand based on the interview with Dr. Tao the reasons for their decision. But for anyone wondering if they should upgrade, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention my favorite feature, and one I think you should consider in your decision. The print by object feature is pretty well developed and with the additional size the H2D offers, I’m able to print a pretty decend range of items all on one build plate. This allows my workflow to be more efficient, saves time, and ultimately a considerable amount of filament. I’m often suprised by what I can stuff in there, and marvel at how much it’s saving me. Would bigger be even better? Sure. But If your working with a 256mm based machine (or similar), I feel like the Print by Object feature is now far more usable on this plate size, and I end up using it far more than I ever have on other machines. I also have a Raise 3D Pro 3 plus, but their implementation of print by object is far more primitive, and with only 2 nozzles/colors, far less useful.
Well, that’s my .02. I hope that makes some sense. If your on the fence about upgrading there’s a dozen obvious reasons in favor (especially if you’re coming from another platform/ecosystem), but that’s one I don’t see emphasized as much as I think it should be. There, it’s off my chest lol.
