My H series printers are dying

In just one week I have had an H2D and a H2C fail with the same problem. (Left hand toolhead temperature control malfunction) The H2D has done just over 6000 hours and the H2C 3100 hours.

(Also had a P2S coincidently need the same part also this week, but that was because there was a nozzle clog that was not detected and the printer virtually ripped the hotend off, again not covered by warranty!!! but thats another story)

These printers are part of my print farm and are work horses running 24/7. Anyone else had such errors?

Support just do the basics, and make you pay for the new part, clearly flouting UK consumer laws as per usual. I dont have the time to argue the point, I just pay the ÂŁ30 and get a new part.

Is this a sign of things to come, do the toolheads on the H series printers fail after a certain amount of hours.

Would be interesting to see if anyone else has experienced these issues.

When you say “run 24/7” I hope that is including scheduled maintenance downtime?

Typical issues appear when the printers are not maintained frequently enough, especially in a print farm. I never had any similar issues so it might be a maintenance issue.

6k hours to begin to find the weak components [fans, etc] starting to fail sounds pretty normal imo.

I dont own H2’s but I own lots of skus from many mfrs and expect refurb needs starting at 5k.

No, its not a maintenance issue. Its just a consumable part and coincidental that I had two machines go down with the same problem at the same time. All fixed again and running again like clockwork.

Well obviously , 24/7 is an expression meaning they are running constantly, they do have the odd break, if a print stops in the middle of the night for example. My H series printers over 30 of them look like new.

I have got an A1 mini, several years old approx 11000 hours on it, mainly used as a demo machine, I’ve purposely never maintained it, never cleaned or oiled it just to see what would happen, it has never had a problem.

Am I following correctly that a couple of your fleet of 30+ H series printers needed a replacement part at a sizeable amount of operating hours? You replaced the part and are back in operation. This doesn’t seem at all out of the ordinary for someone with that many printers that pretty much full time.

So…If it’s a consumable part, it isn’t warrantable, and you kinda answered your own question - they’ll fail after some period of use. You have 30 H-series printers, that’s a good sample size, you can plot your own reliability with far greater accuracy than asking a bunch of home gamers with 1-2 of these machines.

This thread comes off more as an opportunity to throw rocks than to gain actual information.

6000h dead heat cartridge or heater is just more than acceptable and I think he probably did not printed hot stuff.
My left cable crystallized and broken at 2000h there’s no maintenance to do on that.

Yes I have had the same experience with my H2D and H2C. It’s a super simple fix and happened after 4000 hours on the H2D. The guide link is below. Order the left hotend heating assembly. Install. i haven’t decided yet how many hours life I consider acceptable.

Our cars can run for years and 000s of kilometres without a service. Our boat needed oil filter changing every 300 nautical miles, or 30 days.

To have the fault on 2 machines out of 30, means maybe it’s not that bad?

What is the exact part?

Not many hours (didn’t check specific number) but I printed 5 rolls of ABS GF and had to replace the left nozzle heater assy too. A real PITA to get to it but got it done and running fine again. Is it normal to have this temp control failure after too much high temperature printing?

Common fault happened to mine more than once the left hand nozzle wiring breaks at the point it’s fixed you need to a new left nozzle assembly

I had 2 H2D printers with a lot less hours, and both of them had the tool head fan fail. It is a weak point and the fans are garbage. Bambu shows these printers being able to do engineering material, but the fan they use cannot handle it. It is a pain in the backside to replace it too. The quality of Bambu printers is not what it used to be. I am done paying big dollars for this kind of thing.

So you think a Bed Slinger should be as reliable as a High Tech machine Like the H series! first of all any multi nozzle printer is way more complicated than a 20 year old designed Bed slinger. Do I think Bambu is going down hill fast and is starting to only care about the bottom line. YES I DO! Your just having a bit of bad luck! But your parts fix the printer and then go do a couple of shots to calm down!

Parts fail, 3100h and 6000h are not just a little bit printing. Iti is heavy use.
The only thing is how is parts availability and how easy are the parts to replace.
Maybe also if there is a design issue. The same for fans, nobody is surprised
that these fail, just how miuch effort it is to replace.
