My p1s Extruder noise

hThe new machine I just bought has this kind of sound from the beginning of operation, which is very noticeable when printing at low speed.Although it does not affect the printing quality at present, I am concerned that there may be issues that may affect the printing quality after the warranty period expires.I want to know what is causing this noise and how can I eliminate it

Quite odd. It sounds like its happening when the belt(s) reverse.

Have you upgraded the FW lately?
It won’t hurt to run the printer vibration calibration again.
See if that helps.

Thank you for your suggestion. After the firmware upgrade, I have performed three calibrations. After careful observation, I found that there is a noise when the extruder is being pulled back and loaded back, which should be related to the extruder. However, the machine is brand new and should not be due to gear wear

I would check the bowden tube on top of the toolhead.

Make sure it is pushed in all the way. I would even remove it and check the tube end to make sure it is cut square. Then push it back into the toolhead.

The fitting on top could also be broken, this would not be the first one. Everytime there is a retraction it has to hold firm for good results.

If the advice above still doesn’t resolve your issue…
I would suggest a test print with the part fan turned completely off and see if you can pinpoint, by ear, where the source of the sound is coming from.
That should help lead you to where the issue might be.

It can be certain that the noise must come from the extraction and release of the extruder

Yup, it might be this with a combination of the bowden tube hitting the top glass when a retraction happens.

I have removed the top cover, but the noise still exists

Have you checked the bowden tube connection as @Barryg41 suggested?

Yes, I have also checked and there are no abnormalities

After dismantling the extruder, I found a layer of black oil stains on the gears, and there is a slight gap between the extruder gears. The gears are not fully engaged. I am a novice. Is this a normal phenomenon?

Do you have the extruder tensioning spring and screw installed?

It seems that they have retooled their extruder gears if we go by your pic, where Bambu is now using helical gears like the aftermarket set from Fysetc.
For my P1S that I got late last year (November) the teeth on the extruder (for both the hardened steel replacement that I got as well as the stainless steel set that is included) are straight:

You can also see this in the assembly video linked earlier.

No, the gears shouldn’t have that much slack, but it could also be because you are holding it down with something rather soft.

Yes, both the spring and screw are installed correctly, and the screw has been tightened to the tightest position

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM NEW PRINTER , and it does this from the start.

this is new problem

A bit old thread, but did you get it figured out? I have one week old P1S and it making the same noise

I’m with @JonRaymond , the click sounds like the PTFE tube hitting, but not the glass, the right side frame.

Went down this rabbit hole during a long print. Kept hearing a click or similar. Stood there watching and noticed it happened on movement towards the right side.

Turns out the PTFE tube was hitting the printer on any move that direction. Pulled the tube to lessen the slack in it (not too tight) and problem solved.

Yes it sounds like the extruder, no it’s not.

It’s the extruder and not the PTFE tube hitting the extruder. I removed the glass top and since I don’t have an AMS, I just held the PTFE tube up in the air to rule out it hitting anything on the printer.

When I change the retraction length, the noise gets louder/longer.

My P1S is 1 week old and so far I’ve been loving it.

The only issues I encountered are some bearing noises the pulley tensioners are making and the extruder making that weird metal clunky noise. For that I ordered some Synco Super Lube 52004 like they recommended and I will oil them hopefully tomorrow.

You probably had a different issue then, this sound or rather clacking sounds a bit metallic. I’m not sure if it’s due to the high acceleration and small motion of the extruder or due to some other reason.

@KisuArttu Same here, since we both have fairly new one-week-old P1Ss, I assume this is normal behavior.

My current assumption is that the noise comes from the motor+motor driver combination. Since most other 3d printers I had only had off the shelf drivers and were a lot more silence in that regard compared to the P1S/X1C. The only thing that I can remember that comes close to this sound was one of my first 3D printers that had equally loud motor drivers (A4988s).

Or did the noise change for you? It disappeared when I disabled retraction in the slicer (setting to 0) though that was only for debugging purposes and should be left on.

I also found some other posts on reddit with other printers A1/A1 mini and other P1S.

Either it’s the motor driver or as some other people assume it’s the play between the gears in the extruder itself. Though I doubt it should cause any issues. When I pinched the end of the ptfe tube, I could still feel the filament properly move when the retract happens.

Min also have it, brand new, i am in the process of an AMS replacement, since it was DOA asked it on that ticket, just because i needed to know…

But clearly sounds like retraction noise… so my guess is a bit of play between the gears since it is metal engaging… only there if you make “multi color prints” not if you just “lay lines” i think it is normal behaviour… but has nothing to do with glass or PTFE tube, it is in the extruuder.
