Need help with print quality issue

Hello, I need some direction. I have an X1C and it is suddenly producing poor quality. On a brand new filament spool that has been dried. The test strips look good, the prime tower looks good, and the first layer looks great. However, once it’s gets to the second layer (where the print speed increases), the quality goes to ■■■■. Could this be a clog or flow issue? Thanks

Hi Mandrell

Had a problem once that looked similar.

i was printing to fast and it did not melt enough material for a continuous flow when it was printing these long lines.

i think that’s happening with your part. when you look at the beginning of the layer(bottom of picture) it was ok and then with the longer lines it became worse.
did you increase speed because the layer before looks fine?

however this problem only arose as i increased my print speed beyond 100% with the BL Studio PLA setting at 0,24mm.

I am using the same default print speed since I got the printer.

Did you calibrate the filament?
The first layer already looks a bit off and the second clearly has too much plastic coming out of the nozzle.
If you print in draft mode and fast the extruder goes into overdrive - does not mean though the Bambu hotend can keep up.

Looks like massive over extrusion

So, I solved the problem. This issue only occurred with the 2nd and 3rd layers of any print (perhaps the Initial Layer Infill). The larger the object, the more pronounced the over extrusion affect appeared. So, I ran a Flow Dynamics calibration and a Flow Rate calibration. Voila! problem solved. The prints look fantastic again. I have no idea how those settings got out of whack. Thanks for all the suggestions🙂

I will try recalibrating filament. Also I would have said you need to dry your filament as a secondary cause. I printed 2 parts to a filament spool with 2 different PLA filament, Bambu lab and Generic PLA. I got the same issue but all over the top layer of my first part. Using Bambu lab green PLA that came with the printer. Without calibrating between prints The Black Generic PLA printed perfect. I LOVE my X1C had it for about 1 month now. I find that it can print very well. Meaning I have had Spaghetti detected and still the print came out pretty darn great. That is pretty remarkable in my opinion. With my last few full bed prints. It keeps detecting Spaghetti but if I just say resume it again prints nearly perfect. The “AI” or other tech in this printer is pretty amazing. Just wanted to say. one last comment. I tried setting spaghetti detection to low and that did not seem to make any difference. It still would pause several times with the Spaghetti detected error. So for now I just disabled the AI detection.

This could be from to much moisture in the filament and or you need to leave the top glass off and open the door when using PLA filaments.

What are the secrets for printing with PETG,

I have a similar issue. On a flat surface I have clear lines appearing and it is not smooth or clean
