Need help(!) with Support Interfaces (why is this so messy?)

So whenever I use supports I set interface layers to 0 because otherwise they are impossible to remove. Trouble is the printer still makes this mess between the supports and the bottom layer. I have to use a penknife to cut off each strand. Does anyone know what’s going on here? my Creator Pro 2 prints the supports directly on the bottom layer and they remove easily with no cleanup work needed.

What type of supports did you try? Have you tried Tree Supports or Hybrid?

What plastic is that? PLA? PETG? BongoBong Gorilla Snot?

Did you mean: printing the bottom layer (of your model) on the supports?

The “interface layer” generates a higher-density pattern to ensure the bottom layer (sitting atop the support) looks nicer, as the support bulk is quite coarse otherwise.

Try, instead, increasing top Z distance in the Support tab (of the slicer, of course  )

I’m using the default, tree are not suitable for this. PLA

I know what the interface layer does yeah, that’s why I’ve been turning it off, because it’s impossible to remove. But even with it turned off the printer is still making those lines as some sort of coping mechanism lol

Set 3-4 interface layers with a z distance of 0.15 mm and an xy distance of 0.35 mm.

The supports will remove just fine and it’ll look miles better than what you showed on your pic.

Really glad to hear that!

If you have an AMS, using support filament or PETG as support filament will give you the best possible results for PLA support interface quality.

In that case, reduce z distance to 0 and keep xy distance as is.

I do have one yeah, but if I can get away without filament changes/chances of contamination etc I will :grinning:
