Networking issues

FWIW, I just downgraded my UniFi access points to the previous FW version and am having much better luck. For me with my two UAP-AC-LR units, they were last updated to the latest firmware (6.5.54) on the 5th of June so I rolled back to 6.5.28 from Feburary 18th. Downgrade by going to your access point settings in your controller and supplying the link to the firmware file which can be found on the UniFi downloads page.

There has been a lot of threads on reddit about different issues with Ubiquiti like this one

https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/11cyiwi/x1c_network_timeout_issues/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1

I think there are a few factors here beyond the UniFi FW version as well, I suspect due to the poor quality WiFi radio used on the printer. After some additional testing today, I am getting much lower and more consistent pings to the printer after (i) locking the client to a single access point and (ii) setting 20MHz bandwidth and high-power radio modes. The average ping has come down to around 10ms with 1 ms to 50 ms min/max. Before these changes, it was more like an average of 400 ms 100 ms to 3000 ms min/max. Hope this is helpful to some of you with similar issues.

If you have a Ubiquiti setup, try creating a 2.4GHz only SSID. It may be sufficient to disable band steering on a dual frequency SSID, but I havenā€™t tested that. I had frequent disconnects like others have reported. They completely went away once I made the printer itā€™s own SSID without 5GHz. I suspect this would extend beyond Ubiquiti gear as well. Doesnā€™t help those in a setting where IT controls the network, but for home users it should do the trick.

Iā€™m running a UNIFI network as well, I have strong signal on all mobile devices in the same location as my printer but got pore signal on my X1C on 2.4 with probably around 12 meters to the AP. I ended up moving the AP outlet closer to the printer on the weekend and that fixed my issue

Same problem. UniFi Dream Machine Pro with two APs. A day or two and I lose connection to printer. Wish this just had a ethernet jack.

Thank you wpmcnamara,
I also had strange and unwanted disconnects. My home network solely consists of Ubiquiti equipment, so I gave your idea a go; I created an extra WiFi network, 2.4Ghz only, and ā€œPresto!ā€.
It is only two days but I dare to say (very carefully) that I did not encounter any disconnects. My uploads even go fasterā€¦
So for others with the same frustration: give this a try.

Hello
I have two Ubiquiti AC AP Liteā€™s in my network and no other WIFI-source. After updating  Unifi to the most recent version and updating the APā€™s to the most recent firmware, I created a separate network for my X1CC only with only 2.4 GHz enabled.
THAT WORKS FINE.
As a patch I would say.
Because I expect Bambu Lab to solve their network issues.
Lex.

Im using a Unifi UDM Pro (Version 3.0.20 OS / 7.4.162 Networking) with a mix of old and new Unifi Access points all running the latest software. My printer shares the IOT network with a mix of Wifi 4/5/6 devices using both 5GHz and 2.4GHz. Since buying my X1 in May I have had zero issues with their cloud based printing, it just works (for me). With that said Im in a large metro area in the U.S. with good network connectivity and my printer is close to an access point.

ā€œLAN Onlyā€ mode is more problematic but only because the requirements to successfully get it to run on anything other than a simple flat network are not officially documented. However, once you understand the full requirements (there are other discussions on this topic) it too can be made to run in a Unifi environment.

Im providing this information just as an FYI to let those of you who run Unifi networks know that it is possible to have a good experience with an X1C on a Unifi network. Donā€™t give up hope !

Networking issues have overwhelmingly been reported by Ubiquity users. I am not sure this is a Bambu thing to fixā€¦

Iā€™m running a OpenWRT access point on non-ubiquity hardware and the printerā€™s networking freezes every few hours. I have an SSID just for the printer and the MAC layer remains connected but no packets flow, e.g. canā€™t ping the printer. RSSI is fine. I can only use the printer because I run a script that detects the situation and force-disconnects the printer at the MAC level so it reconnects a few seconds later. Iā€™m very isolated, there is no interference and very very few other networks around. I have more than a dozen esp32 devices that are all fineā€¦

After months of having my printer(X1) disconnecting on me and several attempts of getting it back online on wifi was mildly unstable for the printer. My network is a Ubiquity setup and has been working flowlessly for many years. Update FW on both printer and Accesspoints often to latest version. Iā€™am employed at a huge MSP provider so i started looking more in to my setup since I found it a bit strange. Talked with people on the discord server once I experianced my issues to see if anyone else had problems with their printers at the same time. So it was only me. Reprovissioned my settings to my AP also to see if it could be that. Still no luck. However, I found my problem. Since Iā€™m a homelaber I host my Ubiquity controller myself and found that the controller was heavilly outdated after I updated the controller and reprovissioned my AP, my printer came back instant on the network and I can see no more drops of connection on the ā€œconnection history of the deviceā€. Hope this helps other Ubiquity users out their.

Iā€™m having the same issue laterly.
I have s synology router about 5m away from the printer.
The printer is one of few devices on the 2.4GHz band. Most other devices use the 5GHz band.
The problem seem to have started with firmware 01.07.00.00
The printer connects after power cycling, but the network connection is very unstable. Once it disconnects. only a power cycle will restore the Wifi connection.

Wow, yes im in the same boat here, Ubiquiti dream machine and apā€™sā€¦ had the X1 for about 3 weeks was flawless for the first 2 weeks, now it just drops out constantly. this last week has been a killer, i feel i cant print without switching the x1 one on and off a couple of times, turning wifi off, telling the controller to reconnect then fiinlly i get it to connectā€¦ but not for longā€¦ What I have found is if i change the radio from 20 to 40 or 40 to 20 it seems to give it a jolt and we connect nearlly straight away ā€¦ but it will drop out again half way through the printā€¦ and i have to do it again to connectā€¦ This is driving me insane, has anyone else had further luck with this?

Iā€™ve had zero problems since I created a 2.4GHz SSID for my X1C. Now, there is nothing but my X1C connected to it, so I suppose its possible that if you a have 2.4GHz only SSID, with other devices on it besides the printer, that the APs interactions with the other devices could be part of the problem. :person_shrugging:

For reference, here are the UniFi settings for my 2.4GHz SSID:

2.4GHz radios are set to 40MHz channel bandwidth. Auto transmit power. No minimum RSSI. All my APs have band steering disabled, though it shouldnā€™t matter with a dedicated 2.4GHz SSID.

My wireless network has three UAP-AC-Pro access points. Two downstairs and one upstairs. Printer is upstairs.

Thanks for you quick responce,

Yeah i think ive fixed it for now but dont know the cause yet.

Out of pure fustration last night at 2am i crack and under WiFi In the controller i set it to Auto and not manual which i had setup a couple of years agoā€¦ Now since then it has been rock soild not one drop outā€¦ where as last week it would drop out every printā€¦ So now i intend to go back to manual and start setting things up again one be one and see if i can find the culpritā€¦

If im successful ill report backā€¦ so nice to have it not drop out

What is your advantage to running your software in manual rather in auto?

I changed the channel width and the printer did connect. I already had 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 set as my DNS servers. It still disconnected every 10-20 minutes and I would have to restart to the printer to get it to reconnect again or change back to 20 for the channel width. I have 2 separate networks, one for 2.4 and one for 5Ghz, so I know it wasnā€™t a band steering issue since they were already separate. I ended up adding an old apple airport express base station to extend the 2.4Ghz and then removed that network from the Unifi AP that was near the printer. Once I did that the printer connects immediately and stays connected. I also have my 2.4 network set to manual but will set it to auto to see if I have the same experience you did. Is everything still going good on Auto or have you tried to go back to manual yet?

Hi,
No i havenā€™t attempted to go back to manual settings yet, (been flat out with work/kids)
But since the change to Auto the connection to the X1 has been a dream, quick not one drop out!! connects instantly when switched on and is rock solidā€¦
Im not sure what the excat issue was/is until i get some time to go manual and see if i can recreate it. Also just udated the X1 firmware 01070200 whith out a hickup with the connectionā€¦

Kind of weird, but my X1C has been reasonably reliable at connecting to my home network(s) for months - until last week. Now it drops the network connection after a few hours, and it can only be re-established by rebooting the printer :frowning:

Iā€™ve made no changes to the network for months. Of course, the ā€œupdated network pluginā€ or whatever it was that Bambu Studio updated last week might be the culprit ā€¦
