When I first received my Bambu X1C, I could send prints from Bambu Studio and receive notifications on my phone using the app. None of that works any more. All three devices are on the same network, but neither Studio nor the app can connect to the printer.
Are there any detailed troubleshooting documents for network issues?
It happens (rarely though) that the Bambu cloud servers are down. Did happen yesterday for a short moment. Normally you would see people reporting this here or in FB groups pretty quickly. Otherwise try to shut down printer (poewer off) and power on again ?
The latest firmware updates for the prionter have broken something with networking. All your prints are cloud managed, so each device needs a solid connection. I have a Unifi wifi system. It’s solid. I have many wifi devices all work perfectly. Since the update, the printer often loses connection. 1 blob instead of 3. Yet other devices in the same room are fine.
Same issue here. Unifi network and used to have zero issues. Went to print last weekend after a few weeks of no printing due to work travel and the printer continuously drops from the network. Seems Bambu broke something in an update.
@bshack88@Coojee@jon_bondy Short version: I added a 2.4Ghz only AP. Long version: I have Unifi Dream Machine Pro, Switches and Access Points. Printer worked flawless since I bought it last month then latest firmware seems to have broken my connectivity as well. Tried suggested fix by jrock. No change. Basically could sometimes send prints and sometimes monitor. I was not able to send files at all no matter what, only print. Place Unifi AP next to printer (I have 6 around my Faraday cage of a home). Tried to reset but no change. Support recommended reset and check for loose Wifi antenna. I did not find any obvious loose antenna wires but did not take apart the printer to check the AP board. I added a 2.4Ghz only AP and it “appears” to work again, at least I can now upload files and so far, related or not, I can reliably connect to it via Studio and Handy. Welcome any other suggestions or fixes.
I think I might have actually found the culprit, in my case. The last update to my Unifi AP’s happened around the same time as the Bambu firmware update and I was blaming the wrong update. It was the Unifi one that caused the issues. After some trial and error, I found that I need to update the software on my Unifi controller. For me, it was on my Cloudkey but if running a controller from your PC, it would be there. For some reason it wasn’t automatically updating as selected in settings and I was several releases behind. Once I update that software, I haven’t had the connection issues any more. Hopefully that will be helpful for others with Unifi networks and these Bambu connection issues
@bshack88 Maybe it is a Unifi problem. My equipment updates itself so all I know is that it is current but I don’t know the last time it did update. As soon as I updated the firmware on the Bambu X1 something broke. I could see the printer and its IP but it would drop intermittently for no apparent reason. No clue why I could “print plate” but not “send plate”. Again, for now it is working.
My Unifi equipment is supposed to update itself as well and the hardware (AP, switch, and Cloudkey firmware) did. For some reason, though, the Unifi controller software (program that allows you to monitor and control the devices, setup wifi networks, etc.) didn’t update. As far as indications, I was seeing the same thing as you with the printer IP going in and out. The update for my AP’s (older AC Pro’s) was released at the same time as the Bambu update.
I have same issues with X1C connectivity on the Bambu X1C Printers (I have multiple) - Not sure if it’s a Unifi issue but that is my network as well. I updated everything on the Unifi end and it didn’t resolve anything for me. If I switch the printers to/from different networks (e.g switch it to Starlink separate network) it’ll fix the issue temporarily but it keeps reoccurring.
Interesting that you should mention this. I have recently started having connectivity issues with my X1C as well. I also have Ubiquiti APs, and also recently updated their firmware, as well as the X1C firmware. I couldn’t tell you which was updated first, at this point. My AP controller was also significantly behind on updates. I updated it this afternoon and will see if it addresses my connectivity issues. So far, it appears to have. I’ve been able to stream video for the last two hours without a problem. This was rare to impossible prior to the update to the AP controller.
I should note that I have a Raspberry Pi running as my AP controller, rather than a Cloud Key.
In my case (X1C) the printer is sporadically loosing the Wifi connection.
In this case the X1C does not even see any other Wifi network and thus i cannot re-connect to same or any other Wifi network. The only solution is to switch off/on the X1C and the problem is gone for some time.
Do you experience the same issue?
When I learned that files sent to the X1C over the network cannot be read back, I gave up on sending files to the X1C over the network for printing. I now write them to the SD card and sneaker net them over to the printer. Stupid design on the part of Bambu. I only use the network for updates now.
For anyone else following this thread the 1.05.01 firmware update seemed to fix my problem (1.04.01 left me with print only, no sending files). This AM no connection at all. Unifi says poor client/ap signal balance with tx rate of 11mbps and no rx. Locked it to an AP further away which brought back connectivity on channel 1 (vs 6). Other devices on the closest AP “seem” to work fine. No clue if it is related or not.
@dana.nelson I have done the Unifi troubleshooting, no changes. I just ran WifiMan app with my phone and mapped the signal. It is uniformly strong. Connecting to the further AP point is working but as expected decreased signal. Unifi rates the wifi experience as “excellent” with -74 dBm, wifi 4 standard, 1x1 MIMO, 40Mbps tx/rx but either poor or good AP/Client signal balance. I am not a network engineer so I don’t know how much of that is important. I have 6 access points. Have now connected the X1C to 3 different APs, all up to date, all working seamlessly with 42 other wireless devices. With 1.04.01 no changes worked, I could print plate only or walk microSD card over. With 1.05.01 works again but inexplicably not with the closest AP it had been working for when first purchased.
I just got my X1 and am having this same issue. Running the latest unifi firmware on all my switches/APs. I can get it to connect after numerous power cycles but it drops the connection after a few mins. Running 1.05.02.00 on the printer.
