New 3D-Printable Footwear Series is Now Live — Bambu Lab x FORMISM by SCRY

3D-printed shoes usually get labeled as “interesting experiments.” Cool to look at, maybe — but not something you’d actually live with.

We wanted to dig into a more practical question: What does 3D printing really bring to footwear — and maybe even how trends are made?

We believe that once manufacturing moves from factories to desktops, 3D printing stops being just a production method. It becomes a shared, reusable creative capability.

The collaboration BambuLab x FORMISM by SCRY

Driven by this philosophy, Bambu Lab partners with SCRY, one of the world’s leading footwear design brands. Through FORMISM, a new experimental design studio, the collaboration distills and reinterprets the curves found in nature and motion.

The result is three distinct series: ARC, PERSONA, and FOAM, totaling nine 3D-printable footwear models released exclusively on MakerWorld.

FORMISM ARC is now available for free on MakerWorld .

FORMISM PERSONA is now live in the MakerWorld Crowdfunding section, with crowdfunding set to open on Jan 12, 2026.

FORMISM FOAM is scheduled to launch in the MakerWorld Global Crowdfunding section in late January. Stay tuned!

All showcased shoes were printed using Bambu TPU 90A filament. For your own creations, you’re free to choose from multiple color options in TPU 90A / TPU 85A for printing, depending on your personal preference.

The Bambu TPU 90A Silver shown is expected to launch in Feb 2026.

I wonder where is this Bambu Lab Foam TPU? :wink:

I think the design is great and would print a pair right away.
But how is that supposed to work? On the one hand, the highly flexible TPU is fed from the side spool.

“NO AMS: TPU is too flexible for the AMS automatic feeding system. You must use the rear spool holder for manual loading.”

I understand that, I do the same with TPU.

And on the other hand, PLA is to be used as support. Sounds good too.

“Since PLA and TPU do not adhere to each other, utilizing PLA as the support interface allows for effortless removal of the support structures, resulting in a significantly smoother and cleaner print surface.”

Did I miss how that fits together? Manual changes? :see_no_evil_monkey:

Q&A Update says:

  • The model is best suited for H Series or other dual-extruder printers, as using a different material for supports makes removal significantly easier. For single-extruder devices (such as the X, P, and A Series), you must use TPU for supports. While it is possible to print, please note that supports will be much harder to remove, and the surface quality of the supported areas will decrease.

Now its clear. It is only possible for X, P and A when using TPU Supports for TPU. That is not an option. That’s a shame, it sounded like a nice idea.

Bambu Lab needs printers that can print 60A TPU to get the same comfortable feel as most walking shoes. Several YouTubers noted that printing TPU seems like an after thought on Bambu Lab printers. Bambu Lab has extremely competent engineers that could have developed TPU capabilities much further, but for some reason they did not. Now Recreus has patented a 2.2mm filament and print head process to better print soft TPU filaments faster, but this could have been Bambu Lab’s if they spent the time to research it and improve their TPU print capabilites.

Sirya Tech and Biqu both have filaments that print like 90-95A and can be controlled by temp to be as low as 70A. I have test printed the Biqu and it feels much softer than the 90A but I lack a way to test it. I’m currently using 90A to print Whaleberry shoes from the back without issues (10hrs to go on 2 day print).

Using the sirya tech I didn’t heat the temp high enough. Both the Sirya and Biqu the supports removed without issue.

Biqu Morphlex is insanely comfortable. Just buy some and have a try yourself.
