Today, after a long wait, confusion and disappointment, I received my Bambu Lab A1 Mini.
At least one of the two I ordered. The one I ordered later. The other one hasn’t even been shipped yet.
After unpacking and calibrating it, however, I quickly encountered a problem. About two minutes into printing my test Benchy, the printer stopped printing and a message appeared saying that the toolhead is malfunctioning and I was to restart the printer.
I have restarted the printer several times, disconnected and reconnected the USB-C cable - as recommended by Bambu Lab - several times on the toolhead and on the board and checked that the cables are positioned correctly. That didn’t help either.
Then I noticed that it was also not possible to calibrate the Z-axis and that the component cooling fan could not be switched on.
I then checked all the cables on the toolhead board and plugged them in again - without success.
I checked the connection of the USB-C cable with two replacement cables (which are not from Bambu, however) and therefore assume that the problem must be with the toolhead board.
Does that sound plausible or does anyone have any other ideas of what else I could try?
I haven’t had any particularly good experiences with Bambu support so far and I really want to get the printer up and running. Does anyone have any experience of how long it can take Bambu to respond to tickets and send out spare parts? Does it perhaps make sense to order the spare part from the online store and ask for a refund afterwards?
