Hi everybody! New owner here. I have experience with Creality printers and Cura but Bambu is new to me.
Anyhow the A1 has been flawless since I got it. Printed a bunch of stuff and a top ams mount. But for some reason that I can’t figure out my very last layer when printing this clock (see attached pictures) there is this wave effect ONLY on the last layer of the print. Every other layer is perfect. 4 top layers 3 are flawless and the very top is like this? Also want to include that the printer was making a dragging noise and vibration noise like if it was digging or scrapping it. I verified all axis and everything is smooth. Also checked and print was not warpped and was well flat on the buildplate.
Secondly is not related but is there a way to adjust the Z height or fine tune while printing or during first layer?
Thank you to all for taking time to read my post and possibly find a resolution for my problem.
Since you have experience, I assume that the flow rate is calibrated and isn’t over-extruded.
Some guesses and ideas to check:
Slicer - I assume you also verified. However, are you using ironing? The layer lines are oriented at -45ºC. However, the scratches are almost perpendicular. Can you clarify?
Inffill → which pattern and %?
Wrapping in the external radius? It is a large surface, and the printer doesn’t have an enclosure.
Hi thanks for your input. Yes the flow rate is calibrated. Ironing is unchecked. 15% infill (gyroid). For the external radius it is possible but was sticked well all around but i doubt it. And like I mentioned the only layer that did this mess is the last final layer.
The scratch’s orientation seems strange.
Another thing that may influence the external layers is the number of walls of previous layers. You may check it in the slicer.
and maybe a more dense infill so the top layers can lay down smoother
but it almost seems like its getting a draft on that side any fans perhaps bloeing that area? wonder if the parts cooling fan ricochets off something over ther and cause a cooling issue…
disregard below was just a thought but i see now you have different positions the issue is occuring in interestingly your purge block is there maybe try moving it and see if it does this near it at another location
The print is likely warping and pulling up from the plate. The pattern bed are difficult for adhesion. Check the bottom of the print you will see warping up around the edges. When it warps the tool head is pushing down into the last layer causing the poor quality. This is also why it’s worse toward the edges where the warp is more severe.
