New AMS user filament setup

Hi All,

Prob another post of the same thing asked before but i cant find confirmation on whether im doing this wright so here goes…

Iva just got an AMS but have 3rd party filaments. I have some user filament presets already created that i created by selecting a system preset in the drop down menu, modifying it, then saving as my own.

Now ive noticed that these user presets aren’t available to select in the device tab for the AMS. So after some googling i discovered that you can actually create a custom preset when opening the ‘set filaments to use’ window. I can then choose to copy one of my user presets, delete the old user preset, and then this new custom preset with all my settings is available in the device tab to select in an AMS slot. They then all come up in the filament selection menu like this.

Is this the correct way to set filaments up to use with the AMS.

Like this i am able to actually select the AMS filament in the filaments drop down menu to print with and then when i choose to print the correct slot is already selected.

Can i leave the K values blank for the custom presets if im setting these in the filament profile itself? Otherwise i have to go into the calibration window, choose ‘manage results’ and then create a new entry for every filament profile create?

TIA

this is the correct way. K values can be left blank, some users claim they do not affect the print much.
For me I did it any way for peace of mind. Did this now for 5 -6 filaments and I see the K value is always 0.02 or 0.015 … no matter the filament brand or type I use.
Did also temp tower just to find the proper temp for filament in question.
More I’m interested in the Flow rate calibration. It makes huge diference on the top layer surface finish.

How did you get the option to change the filament? I’ve tried and just get general if it’s not Bambu.

My custom presets are down the bottom in the drop down list.

All of the esun ones are mine.

Have you created custom filaments?

It there somewhere to add them? I’ve just gotten mine on Thursday so I’m still working out the bugs persay.

This took me a bit to get them to save - I use a lot of Sunlu but for some reason when trying to get the AMS to save them as my default took a few tries.

Click on the far right icon in the filament section to open up the ‘Set filaments to use window’. There you can create custom presets.

Brilliant. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Is there a way to export these and share them?

Sorry I don’t know about this.
