So I was getting ready to print today and saw there was a new firmware so I hit update. And when it ran through I was greeted with the unusual sight of a completely different look and UI than the previous ones. So far it seems like a good improvement, I noticed a few things are different.
I like the humidity percentage in the AMS. I definitely like the look and functional feeling of the other menus as well but then I went to do the print I had been going to do. I switched from the .06 nozzle back to my .04 PETG HF nozzle and I may be a little slow but I can’t find anywhere to inform the printer of the nozzle swap? But previously if I sent a file sliced for a different nozzle than was installed I would get the Pop up. But not now, so I’m going to assume it’s handled from the slicer, but that kind of defeats the “fool proof” nature since you can now accidentally send a wrongly sliced file to the printer and it wouldn’t let you know.
I’ve been searching for the information on this update but not finding anything at all. Has anyone else tried it and found any issues or anything else?
Edit: I found where to tell the printer the nozzle, just touch the “nozzle / Extruder” on the hardware screen. I could have sworn I tapped it before and nothing happened, but I guess not, or rebooting may have fixed something. But my point remains it allowed me to send a .04 print file when I previously had told it I had a .06. Possibly the firmware update reset it to .04 as a default.
I always thought Bambu wasted a lot of screen space on the Home page by showing a picture of the printer. Since I have to be standing at the printer in order to see the screen, I find it more convenient to simply LOOK AT THE PRINTER instead of a picture.
Now I see they have made the home page even less informative and useful. Instead of removing useful data and adding an oversized Print Files button, they could have given us something actually worthwhile. Maybe delete the picture and the button, show a scrolling window of microSD content (files and folders)?
The motion and extruder controls will apparently require additional screen tapping instead of having everything on one convenient page, just so we can see another useless picture.
Bambu seems to be changing things around just for the sake of change instead of making actual improvements that benefit the user.
I found it, you were close. In your second photo you see the nozzle and extruder square, press that and it’ll take you to a screen showing the nozzle type and size, press that and it’ll take you to a screen to change it.
The surface looks good, but unfortunately the fan settings no longer work properly. The values are displayed incorrectly in the Android app or on the display and are difficult to set on the Bambulab screen. Does anyone have the same problem?
Is that a Beta firmware or stable?
I tired to restart the printer but nothing pops up… Can’t find anything on YouTube or Google.
This thread is the only information I can find on the internet
I just googled it to see if there was any information yet, saw a link to the wiki, it says open handy go to device,/settings find the firmware and click on it and check the box for the beta program, I didn’t realize I had done that, been a long time since I installed it.
Of my three x1s, only one that was printing at the time offered to update. After dreaming, I pressed update, but the process was interrupted with an error and did not appear again after rebooting.
Thanks for clarifying the beta program!
Did not know they rolled out in different stages… Hopefully I will revive the new update soon. Looking forward to the new UI
