New Contest Tip: How to Reuse Bambu Cardboard Spools

hello, i have a suggestion on new contest: how to reuse and/or recycle bambulab cardboard spool! Obviously the recycling - reuse will have to be done through some 3D-printed accessory. have a nice day and happy new year!!

I’ve been 3D printing toilet paper to wrap around them.

Looks great, feels painful.

This could be good. For now, I’m collecting those spools to make a big scratching post for cats

Poop bin, reduces the amount of filament required.
Riser platform for A1 or A1 mini.
Donate to local school for craft projects.
Fill them with bird seed, watch the woodpeckers recycle them.

Sounds like you should adjust your fuzzy skin levels.

I think this would be a fun contest. By chance, I was thinking about this recently and made a simple clock using the spool as the body. It certainly made for a quick-printing file!

Nice clocks.

Sadly, all I could come up with after a few beers was a set of large googly eyes installed in the tube ends.

I created a lamp by adapting the supports to the size of the cardboard.

Double re-use - that’s really clever!

That is a good recycling project, does the Ikea FADO lamp base work with that?
What is the lamp base?

La base è la Bambulab kit 001. Non conosco quella Ikea

Thanks, I will check the Kit 001
.

Saw some great ideas! We will be planning for this shortly.

This looks like so much fun! Sadly, or happily , I am new to 3D so I haven’t even used up one roll, through I am doing my best. I am thing now what to do with them…along the lines of adding something Cricut designed with 3D….

Don’t you worry about not using enough filament - it’s coming

Instead of doing a contest Bambu Labs should have all their filaments lsited as a refill option too. This would save a lot of resources/cost and allow reuse of the plastic spools.

Most are, in fact, it is usually difficult to find a standard filament with a spool, at least in the U.K.

More exotic filaments that require the high-temp spools come with them as it is far less likely the average user would have a spare high-temp spool available and often they never get through a spool for significant periods of time as they are purchased to experiment with rather than use day in day out.

I believe that in Basic and Basic Matte filaments getting spools is not an option on many colours.
