Just got these from someone named Mia. I ain’t touching that link with a ten foot pole and neither should you if you receive this DM.
It is from the Any Cubic rip off of the MW system.
They call it Maker Online. If MW is beta, consider that system pre-pre-alpha and if you are lucky enough to get someone to talk to, the go dark when you ask a question they can’t answer.
Their reward system is prone to them failing to provide enough information to obtain certain points and then randomly, things you are required to do daily get disabled for a few days and you lose all you accrued.
They have been using DM to get access to people for a a couple of months now. Different accounts each time.
I won a prize in a contest and they still put me off using them until I gain some answers and the points system is stable.
That’s MakerOnline again? The last time I got a DM from them, they actually identified themselves. This time, it’s just “hey, click on this sketchy link for $$$”
EDIT: I do see the NebulaCon contest on their website
In fairness, the same can be said about this place…
That comment specifically ran into the next paragraph issue.
MW has a lot of things to answer for, but, they rarely disengage when you finally get hold of them.
Plus, with the MO issue, they have been screwing over the points system, and rather than own up, they choose to hide.
MW at least tells you they are screwing up even when they don’t have a solution yet.
I tried to upload a older model and entered a contest (just to make an account so my stuff wouldn’t be stolen). Managed to fetch 30 USD in the competition, one roll of filament is on the way.
But the blatant copy of makerworld is just wierd…
That is exactly what happened to me.
i dont really see what you want makerworld to do with that… is this a post youve received on makerworld. ? if so… even if you did received a personal message from someone here, think of it as any other app you use such as facebook, a lot of spams are everywhere, there isnt much to do other then not care about it i guess
Unsolicited spam with wierd links, yeah thats ok?
MW should flag and block users that spam that stuff.
Same, haven’t redeemed but seems legit to me
I hadn’t converted my prize to a voucher, I did after writing my earlier response.
I was surprised to find out there is a delay of 5 days between using points to gain the voucher and being able to purchase something with it.
The vouchers we have are for winning contests. TBH I’m surprised you were able to get something not from a contest, it seems like the main way people get stuff.
Funny story.
Neither the prize voucher nor the points-to-voucher are recognised at the checkout stage!
I wonder why that is… I ought to test mine
Edit: Worked fine for me, try posting on their forum or something.
I have replied to the prize email as the first port of call.
It doesn’t engender future willingness to use them.
Neither does the promise to provide the points they caused me not to obtain, all to end up with nothing more than lies.
